Zcash emerged as one of September’s top-performing major digital assets, sustaining price action above the $1,600 threshold. On September 22, ZEC was changing hands around $1,492 following an intraday peak approaching $1,569.

The privacy-focused cryptocurrency still demonstrated gains exceeding 70% across the 30-day timeframe. During early September, ZEC was positioned near $953 before breaking through key psychological barriers at $1,000, $1,250, and ultimately $1,500.
This upward trajectory came after a bullish pennant formation resolved to the upside earlier in the month. The chart pattern initially suggested a target around $1,000, but subsequent price action pushed expectations considerably higher.
Critical Resistance Zones Emerge Near $1,600
The most immediate technical hurdle exists within the $1,560-$1,585 range. A confirmed daily closure above approximately $1,582 would reinforce the bullish thesis for additional upside movement.
Beyond that threshold, market participants are monitoring the $1,600-$1,615 zone closely. Data tracking potential liquidations reveals significant short position concentrations clustered around $1,605-$1,610.
Should ZEC successfully breach these resistance areas, the $1,700 level represents the subsequent intermediate target. The extended technical framework then projects toward the $1,800-$1,850 region.
Cryptocurrency analyst RookieXBT commented on X that ZEC “looks like” it’s positioned for a move toward $1,800. His assessment represents technical analysis rather than a guaranteed price projection.
Momentum indicators continue displaying strength across multiple metrics. ZEC maintains positions significantly above its key short-, medium-, and long-term moving average benchmarks.
Relative Strength Index measurements hovering between 67-70 indicate momentum persists at elevated levels. Additional oscillators such as Stochastic and CCI similarly register heightened readings following the recent price appreciation.
European Investment Product Debuts for Privacy Coin
21Shares unveiled a physically backed Zcash exchange-traded product listed on Euronext’s Paris and Amsterdam exchanges. The investment vehicle operates under the ticker symbol ZCASH and carries a 2.5% annual management fee.
The ETP provides traditional brokerage account holders with ZEC exposure while eliminating the need for direct cryptocurrency custody. The actual digital assets backing the product are secured through institutional-grade custody solutions.
This European market introduction follows Grayscale’s Zcash ETF listing on NYSE Arca from August. That investment vehicle similarly offers direct ZEC exposure through a United States-regulated product.
On September 8, Digital Currency Group committed roughly $100 million to the Grayscale offering. Since DCG serves as Grayscale’s parent entity, this represents a related-party transaction.
21Shares additionally noted that the privacy cryptocurrency sector expanded from approximately $6.2 billion to roughly $30 billion in market capitalization over a one-year period. The firm’s September analysis valued Zcash at around $20 billion during that assessment.
As of September 23, ZEC continued trading above $1,500 after registering gains surpassing 30% over the preceding seven days. The upcoming technical challenges remain the $1,585 and $1,615 zones before the $1,700-$1,800 range becomes accessible.
