CleanSpark cuts output and discontinues monthly disclosures
CleanSpark concluded September maintaining 13,530 BTC in inventory, down from the 13,703 BTC held at August’s conclusion. The miner liquidated two BTC through spot market transactions and an additional 700 BTC via exercised call options. The firm achieved an average realized price of $72,928 per Bitcoin, incorporating option premiums.
Daily production averaged 17.64 BTC throughout the month. CleanSpark disclosed operational hash rate capacity of 50 exahashes per second supported by approximately 200,000 active mining rigs. Moving forward, the company plans to transition to quarterly reporting rather than continuing monthly production disclosures.
Infrastructure investment takes center stage
The firm successfully completed a $2.276 billion secured bond issuance dedicated to construction activities in Sandersville, Georgia. CleanSpark anticipates the data center lease agreement at this location will yield approximately $6.6 billion throughout the initial lease period. A separate analysis examining AI chip availability explored possible challenges facing mining companies.
On October 13, Bitcoin Magazine highlighted an X conversation addressing Bitcoin mining alongside artificial intelligence computation requirements. CleanSpark stated the bond proceeds will fully fund Sandersville construction through project completion, while mining operations proceed independently.
BitFuFu encounters Ethiopian electricity conflict
BitFuFu generated 167 BTC during September, declining from 174 BTC in August. Company-owned mining operations increased from 88 to 98 BTC, yet customer cloud mining services dropped from 86 to 69 BTC. Aggregate managed hash rate decreased to 19.4 exahashes per second.
The company’s planned Ethiopian mining facility acquisition remains incomplete due to ongoing disagreements involving the location’s power provider. BitFuFu invested $4.1 million and positioned approximately 13,700 mining machines at the site. In related developments, Binance revealed intentions to discontinue its cloud mining platform effective November.
Canaan sustains production and broadens thermal recovery operations
Canaan finished September with 1,875 BTC in holdings, an increase from 1,868 BTC held at the conclusion of August. Non-joint-venture hash rate capacity stayed constant at 10 exahashes per second, while joint venture operations maintained 4.18 exahashes. September’s mining production equaled the prior month’s output.
Thursday’s trading session occurred following broader declines across Bitcoin mining equities. CleanSpark shares traded at $8.76, BitFuFu at $1.27, and Canaan at $0.25. Multiple competing mining firms experienced losses exceeding 12% during Wednesday’s broader market downturn.
Canaan reported its eight-megawatt Nordic thermal recovery installation currently provides reclaimed mining heat to approximately 2,800 residential units. The enterprise is simultaneously developing a comparable heat-recovery initiative targeting Canadian greenhouse operations, awaiting final location assessments.
