Marvell (MRVL) shares slipped approximately 0.9% in premarket activity Wednesday, trading around $260.14 following Tuesday’s 1.9% climb to $262.36. The semiconductor stock has skyrocketed roughly 209% during 2026, prompting analysts to scrutinize whether future expansion is already reflected in current valuations.
Marvell Technology, Inc., MRVL
Seaport Research Partners launched coverage on Marvell with a Buy recommendation and established a $270 price objective. While analyst Jay Goldberg’s target implies modest 3% appreciation from Tuesday’s closing level, his investment case emphasizes sustained expansion in AI-powered data-center infrastructure.
Goldberg spotlighted Marvell’s optical interconnect capabilities and customized silicon operations as key segments poised to capitalize on escalating AI infrastructure investments. These divisions have gained strategic significance as hyperscale cloud providers construct increasingly sophisticated and high-speed data-center facilities.
Data-Center Segment Becomes Revenue Powerhouse
Marvell recorded $6.1 billion in data-center segment sales during fiscal 2026, representing 74% of consolidated revenue. This marks a dramatic shift from fiscal 2024, when data centers contributed only 40% of total sales.
This momentum has extended into the current fiscal year. Second-quarter revenue jumped 37% year-over-year to $2.74 billion, propelled by a 46% surge in data-center sales fueled by artificial intelligence demand.
Optical connectivity stands out as a critical component of this operation. Marvell reported that its optical interconnect division has expanded at approximately a 50% compound annual growth rate across five years and currently comprises about half of data-center segment revenue.
Customized silicon has similarly experienced rapid advancement, now accounting for roughly 25% of data-center sales. Marvell engineers specialized processors designed for major cloud platform operators seeking alternatives to conventional standardized chips.
Google represents a cornerstone of this strategic initiative. Marvell announced in August an expanded commercial partnership with Google encompassing multiple products within the TPU ecosystem, including AI inference accelerators, networking semiconductors and memory-connected solutions.
The partnership also featured a warrant granting Google the option to acquire up to approximately 59 million Marvell shares at a strike price of $206.58, contingent upon meeting vesting requirements.
Analysts Project Strong 2030 Revenue Potential
Seaport isn’t the only research firm highlighting Marvell’s extended AI growth runway. Morgan Stanley recently lifted its price objective to $268 from $246 while maintaining an Equal Weight stance.
Morgan Stanley anticipates Marvell’s upcoming October 6 investor day could chart a trajectory toward exceeding $40 billion in fiscal 2030 revenue. The firm identifies Google customized silicon and associated scale-up offerings as significant potential contributors, though this represents analyst projections rather than official company guidance.
Marvell additionally strengthened its production partnership with GlobalFoundries last week to boost manufacturing capacity for optical connectivity components utilized in AI data-center applications. MRVL shares surged more than 6% that trading session as market participants responded enthusiastically to the news.
The primary concern for investors involves valuation following the stock’s approximately 209% year-to-date surge. Marvell also faces considerable exposure to continued hyperscaler capital expenditure, successful delivery of custom semiconductor programs and ongoing AI networking demand growth.
Currently, Seaport’s coverage initiation contributes another bullish perspective but suggests limited near-term appreciation potential from present levels. Wednesday’s premarket activity shows MRVL retreating below $261 after Tuesday’s 1.9% advance.
