Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest made a substantial addition to its CoreWeave (CRWV) holdings on Thursday, September 17, accumulating 239,083 shares distributed across several exchange-traded funds totaling approximately $19.9 million in value.

The ARKK ETF received the largest allocation, with 191,868 shares added to its portfolio. An additional 47,215 shares were incorporated into the ARKW ETF. This purchase represents one of ARK’s more substantial single-session acquisitions in recent trading activity.
Shares of CoreWeave commenced trading at $79.88 on Friday, September 18. This price point places the stock considerably beneath its annual high of $153.20, and also trails both the 50-day moving average of $85.23 and the 200-day moving average of $94.04.
Concurrent with ARK’s purchase, Rosenblatt Securities reaffirmed its “Buy” assessment on CRWV while maintaining a $250 price objective. Achieving this target would deliver approximately 213% appreciation from Friday’s opening valuation.
The wider analyst community maintains a more measured outlook. Among 34 Wall Street analysts tracking the stock, 21 assign it a Buy rating, 10 recommend Hold, and three suggest Sell. The average price target across all analysts stands at $142.31, yielding a “Moderate Buy” collective rating.
The company’s latest quarterly report, released on August 11, disclosed revenue of $2.58 billion, marking a 112.5% increase compared to the prior-year quarter. CoreWeave reported a per-share loss of $1.14, which nonetheless surpassed consensus projections calling for a $1.52 loss.
Wall Street Firms Adjust Price Objectives
Multiple investment firms elevated their price targets following the earnings announcement. Robert W. Baird increased its objective from $100 to $130 while maintaining an “Outperform” designation. Truist Financial boosted its target from $155 to $165. Wells Fargo upgraded its price goal from $155 to $160 accompanied by an “Overweight” rating.
However, not all analysts remain optimistic. Jefferies downgraded CRWV from Buy to Hold during July.
CoreWeave maintains a debt-to-equity ratio of 5.53, posts a negative return on equity of 47.95%, and operates with a negative net margin of 25.41%. The organization has yet to achieve profitability. Wall Street forecasts anticipate a full-year loss of $5.19 per share.
Additionally, the company has announced plans for a $3 billion convertible-debt issuance along with a potential $500 million expansion financing round, initiatives that may elevate interest expenses and result in shareholder dilution.
Significant Insider Divestments Persist
Insider transaction activity has been dominated by selling pressure. Over the trailing 90-day window, corporate insiders have sold more than 7 million shares representing approximately $630 million in aggregate value.
Substantial stakeholder Magnetar Financial divested 307,131 shares on August 14 at an average transaction price of $108.75, decreasing its ownership stake by 58.18%. Chief Executive Officer Michael Intrator sold 278,560 shares on June 30 at $97.43 per share, representing an 8.15% decrease in his holdings. This transaction was executed through a pre-established Rule 10b5-1 trading plan designed to satisfy tax liabilities.
Regarding institutional investors, Alyeska Investment Group expanded its position by 55.7% during the second quarter, currently holding in excess of 10.8 million shares. Deutsche Bank, Altimeter Capital, and Amundi have also established or increased their stakes.
ARK also reduced its holdings in Brera Holdings (SLMT), divesting 4,619 shares valued at $14,134 across the ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF ETFs.
