Cathie Wood’s ARK Investment Management seized an opportunity Thursday, September 17, 2026, purchasing approximately $20 million in CoreWeave shares as the stock retreated following a significant financing announcement.
Shares of CoreWeave slid 4.2% to close at $79.88, even as the Nasdaq composite climbed 1.7% during the same trading session. The decline followed CoreWeave’s disclosure of plans to secure $3 billion via convertible senior notes, with provisions for an additional $500 million if demand warrants.
CoreWeave, Inc. Class A Common Stock, CRWV
Simultaneously, the AI infrastructure provider unveiled an at-the-market equity offering program permitting the sale of up to 35 million Class A common shares. The dual approach to capital raising triggered investor anxiety over potential shareholder dilution.
Because convertible instruments can ultimately be converted into equity, existing stakeholders face the prospect of ownership dilution. The accompanying equity offering program provides CoreWeave with yet another avenue for raising capital through share issuance, compounding dilution concerns.
CoreWeave continues investing aggressively in data center infrastructure to satisfy surging AI computing demand. While the financing initiative aims to support this aggressive expansion strategy, it simultaneously introduces dilution risks for existing equity holders.
ARK Capitalizes on Weakness
ARK accumulated 239,083 CoreWeave shares distributed across its exchange-traded funds on Thursday. The flagship ARKK ETF contributed 191,868 shares to the purchase, with ARKW adding 47,215 shares. Based on closing prices, the aggregate transaction totaled approximately $19.1 million.
With CoreWeave shares now trading 56% beneath their June 2025 zenith, Wood’s strategic move signals ARK’s conviction that the current valuation presents compelling value despite near-term financing headwinds.
This transaction aligns with ARK’s established strategy of accumulating AI infrastructure positions during market weakness.
Robust Growth Requires Substantial Investment
During the third quarter of 2026, CoreWeave disclosed securing over $25 billion in new customer agreements. By August 11, the company’s contracted power capacity had expanded to approximately 4.2 gigawatts.
Additionally, CoreWeave has been executing short-duration compute agreements generating rates equivalent to approximately $40 million in annual revenue per megawatt. Customer appetite for AI computational resources shows no signs of moderating.
However, satisfying this demand necessitates substantial capital deployment. CoreWeave’s infrastructure and data center expenditures continue escalating.
Investors are currently evaluating this dynamic between robust revenue opportunities and significant capital requirements.
Analyst sentiment toward CoreWeave remains generally optimistic. The stock carries a Moderate Buy consensus, derived from 16 Buy recommendations, 6 Hold ratings, and 1 Sell rating. The mean 12-month price objective stands at $138.25, suggesting potential appreciation of approximately 73% from present levels.
Regarding portfolio adjustments, ARK liquidated 4,619 Brera Holdings shares distributed across its ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF funds, generating proceeds of approximately $14,134. This continues ARK’s recent pattern of reducing its Brera exposure throughout the past week.
