PrizeRebel Review: Earn Cash & Gift Cards for Surveys – Is it Legit ?

If you’re browsing through the internet trying to find a way to earn cash on the side, then you’ve probably come across heaps of online survey sites that promise fast cash in return for your time. However, you’ll probably know that a lot of these fall very short of their bold claims.

This is normally for one of two reasons. Either you’ll find that there just isn’t enough surveys available to make it worth your while, or alternatively, you need to earn a considerable amount before you are permitted to make a withdrawal.

With that being said, PrizeRebel is one such survey platform that appears to have a somewhat positive reputation. As such, in order to assess the credentials of PrizeRebel, we decided to compile a full and frank review. Within it, we cover everything from how the platform works, who is eligible, how much you are likely to make, and more.

Let’s begin by getting an overview as to what PrizeRebel actually is.

What is PrizeRebel?

PrizeRebel is a U.S. based platform that aims to partner research companies with everyday consumers. The overarching concept is that by undertaking surveys, you as a PrizeRebel member will have the chance to earn rewards. As is the case with most online survey sites, each completed survey is paid in points, which can then later be exchanged for real-world rewards. This can either come in the form of cash or gift cards.

Similarly to other well-known survey platforms such as SwagBucks and SurveyJunkie, PrizeRebel also offers a number of alternative methods to increase your points tally. This includes watching videos, playing games, signing up with third-party websites, or referring friends and family.

In terms of the statistics, PrizeRebel claims to have a community of over 9.2 million members, with the platform paying out surplus of $19 million in cash and rewards since 2007. In comparison to SurveyMonkey – which claims to have distributed more than $300 million, PrizeRebel is significantly smaller.

Nevertheless, one of the stand-out benefits of joining PrizeRebel over its main market competitors is that it accepts account registrations globally. On the contrary, the likes of SurveyMonkey only accepts citizens from a select number of nations.

If you’re wondering how PrizeRebel is able to pay you rewards for simply taking surveys, this is because of what the platform does with your data. As you will be expected to answer survey questions truthfully, advertisers are willing to pay PrizeRebel for access to this information. However, your personal information is not shared with these advertisers, with PrizeRebel claiming that they never share information pertaining to your identity.

So now that you have an idea of what PrizeRebel is, let’s take a look at how the survey process typically works.

How Much do PrizeRebel Surveys pay?

Before we delve into the specific survey-paying process, it is important to understand how the points system works. If you’ve got a bit of experience with survey sites, then you’ll probably know that surveys are paid out in points. Each point can then be converted to real-world dollars, which you can cash-out once you earn a certain number of points.

In the case of PrizeRebel, 1 point will always amount to $0.01. As such, 100 points would amount to $1 –  1,000 points would amount to $10, and so on. One of the best things about PrizeRebel is that in comparison to its main market rivals, the platform makes it somewhat straightforward to figure out how much you can earn per task.

By this, we mean that PrizeRebel will always let you know two key metrics. Firstly, they will let you know how many points you will earn by taking a particular survey. Secondly, they will also give you an average completion time in minutes. While the length of time it actually takes you to complete a survey might vary from the estimation, it does at the very least give you an idea as to whether or not the survey is worth your time.

For example, upon writing this review, we came across a PrizeRebel survey paying 80 points, with the platform suggesting that the survey should take in the region of 20 minutes to complete. As we know that 80 points amount to $0.80, this would equate to a real-world hourly salary of $2.40. For the vast majority of us, that wouldn’t really be worth our time.

However, we also came across a more lucrative survey opportunity during the same review process. The survey, which to our knowledge was available to all registered users, was paying 250 points with an estimated completion time of 15 minutes. With 250 points amounting to $2.50, this would instead amount to an hourly wage of $10.

On the one hand, this is a good rate to be working towards, especially taking into account just how little survey platforms typically pay. On the other hand, you might find it difficult to find enough surveys that pay this type of money, which is why you are probably best off opening accounts with other survey platforms, too.

Nevertheless, the most important takeaway from our testing process was that the points-to-time ratio can vary significantly. As noted in the above example, while some surveys amounted to a real-world hourly wage of $2.40, others were paying upwards of $10. As such, you’ll need to assess whether or not the survey is worth your while on a case-by-case basis.

How Else can I Earn Points at PrizeRebel?

As we briefly noted earlier, although the core of PrizeRebel’s platform is centered on surveys, a number of other earning opportunities are available around the clock. Here’s a breakdown of what’s on offer.

Videos

The easiest way to keep your PrizeRebel points tally ticking along is to load up some promotional videos. These are supplied by partners of the platform, meaning that they could be promoting anything from school shoes to budget travel packages.

Irrespective of what you are watching, videos only pay a few points for every 30 minutes watched. At the very least, the video will continue to load even if it is minimized on your device.

Videos

As such, as long as you don’t attempt to complete other PrizeRebel tasks while the video is playing, you’ll still earn the points in the background.

Playing Games

With the mobile app space now a hugely competitive marketplace, game developers are desperate for players to try their material out. As such, you can earn points by downloading and installing specific gaming titles on to your phone. You stand the chance of increasing your earnings if you actually play the game, and reach certain levels.

Online Shopping

Some of the most lucrative points are paid when you purchase goods and services via a PrizeRebel affiliate link. In this sense, it operates much like a cashback program. However, if you’re looking to earn cash on the side, you probably don’t want to be spending money just to earn a few points. As such, only purchase something via PrizeRebel if you were planning to buy it anyway!

Referrals

Much like in the case of online shopping, referring a friend to the PrizeRebel platform is one of the fastest, if not the fastest ways to build up your points tally.

The reason for this is that every time you get somebody to register on the PrizeRebel platform, you will earn between 15% and 30% (depending on your level – explained in more detail in the next section) of their points earnings forever.

Referrals

As you begin to get more and more people on board, you will essentially earn points without needing to do anything.

How Does the Level System Work at PrizeRebel?

The PrizeRebel system uses an innovative level system that allows you to boost your earnings as you reach certain milestones. When you initially start off you will be given a Bronze account status. After this, the levels move from Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. In order to move up to Silver, you will need to earn 1,000 points – or $10 in earnings, which shouldn’t take long to achieve.

As you move up each level, you can increase your PrizeRebel perks. For example, Diamond accounts get 30% for a referral bonus, while Bronze accounts are capped to just 15%. Moreover, Gold accounts onwards have their reward cashouts processed automatically, while standard accounts might need to wait up to seven days. By holding a Gold, Platinum, or Diamond account, you will also receive a 1%, 2%, or 3% discount from your chosen reward.

If you want to check how many points you need to progress, click on your current level at the top of the screen and you’ll be shown a full breakdown. For example, if you’re currently a Bronze member, click on the ‘Bronze’ button.

So now that you have a good idea as to how you can earn points at PrizeRebel, we are now going to explore what you can exchange them for.

What can I Redeem my Points for? Cash and Gift Cards

In a nutshell, once you earn enough points at PrizeRebel, you’ll be able to exchange them for either cash or a gift card.

If you decide to go with the latter, the good news is that you only need to accumulate 200 points to be able to make an exchange. This amounts to just $2 in earnings, which is great.

In fact, a number of survey platforms operating in the space will ask that you make surplus of $25 before you can cash out, so this is one of PrizeRebel’s strongest plus-points.

Gift Cards
Choose from a wide range of Gift Cards

Cash

If you’re the type of person that simply wants cold-hard cash, then PrizeRebel will need to facilitate this via a PayPal transfer. As is industry standard in the online survey arena, your PayPal email address must match the email address that you have set up with PrizeRebel. If it’s different, don’t worry – as you can change this manually via your account dashboard.

In terms of the minimums, you only need to earn 500 points to make a cash-out, which amounts to $5 in real-world money. After this, PayPal cash-outs go to $10, $15, $20, $50 and then $100. As such, you might be best to make a cash out every $5-$10, just to ensure you don’t get lumbered with unusable points.

If you are on a Bronze or Silver account, then you should expect your PayPal cash out to take upto seven days before it is received.

Gift Cards

When it comes to exchanging your PrizeRebel points for a gift card, you have two options. You can either pick an Amazon voucher code, or a Prepaid voucher that is backed by Visa. If opting for Amazon, gift cards start at just 200 points – or $2.

Alternatively, if you decide that you want a PrePaid Visa voucher, then this starts at just 500 points – or $5. Either way, these low point tallies makes it very feasible to earn rewards quickly at PrizeRebel.

How to get Started With PrizeRebel?

If you like the sound of PrizeRebel and want to get started today, follow the step-by-step instructions that we have outlined below.

Step 1: Register an Account

First and foremost, you will need to open an account. Head over to the PrizeRebel homepage and fill in the registration box You’ll need to enter your first and last name, email address, and a strong password.

Account Signup

To complete the account registration process, confirm your email address by clicking on the verification link that PrizeRebel sends to your inbox.

Step 2: Complete Your Profile

Now that you’ve registered an account, you will now need to complete your profile. You’ll be asked a range of questions regarding your overall lifestyle, such as where you live, the type of work you’re involved in, what you like to do in your free time, and where you have travelled to in the past.

Although these questions might sound a bit intrusive, there is a reason behind it. In a nutshell, the PrizeRebel algorithm will attempt to build a profile on you so that it knows which marketing companies to match you up with.

Profile Questionnaire
Take the Profile Questionnaire

For example, if a company in Australia is looking to obtain opinions from Australian citizens about the quality of local tap water, there would be no point matching you up with the survey company if you’re based in the US!

With that being said, your ability to obtain new survey opportunities will largely depend on your individual profile. This is why it is important to complete your profile honestly. On the other hand, there are a number of surveys that are open to all, meaning that you don’t need to receive an invite in order to complete them.

Nevertheless, once you complete your profile, PrizeRebel will credit your account with 10 points!

Step 3: Review Account Dashboard

So now that you’ve set up your PrizeRebel account, you will instantly be taken to your account dashboard. On the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll get to see your daily challenge earnings. This is the number of points that you need to earn within a 24 hour period to earn bonus points.

In the centre of your account dashboard, you’ll see a selection of third-party survey companies that allow you to start taking surveys straightaway. This includes Daily Surveys, Your Surveys, PeanutLabs, and SaySoRewards.

If you want to get a birds-eye view of all of the available points-earning opportunities currently available to you, you’ll want to click on the ‘Offer Wall’ button. In doing so, you can scroll through each and every offer available, alongside the number of points it pays.

Step 4: Start Taking Surveys

In order to get your points tally ticking along, it might be worth taking the Daily Survey. You’ll get 77 points by taking your very first survey. Once you’ve done this, you can continue taking the Daily Survey until no more surveys are available.

When you do click on a survey link, it is normal for PrizeRebel to open the survey in a new tab. As the platform drops cookies on to the respective website, PrizeRebel will track your progress remotely.

Step 5: Wait for Your Points

Once you’ve completed a third-party survey, the points are usually credited straightaway. If they aren’t credited instantly, don’t panic – as the platform sometimes takes time to update completed surveys.

In order to keep tabs on how many points you have previously earned, simply hover over the ‘Rewards’ button at the top of the page, and then click on ‘Rewards History’.

PrizeRebel Review: The Verdict?

In summary, PrizeRebel is certainly up there with some of the best survey sites. As the platform has been in existence since 2007, it has had the opportunity to build itself a relatively good reputation. In terms of what you can earn – sure, the amounts are always going to be low at survey platforms.

However, by being selective with the surveys that you do take on, it’s well worth considering. Moreover, it’s a really good idea to combine your PrizeRebel efforts with other survey sites such as SwagBucks and SurveyJunkie. In doing so, you can focus on the more lucrative paying surveys.

As a final note, one of the stand-out benefits of going with PrizeRebel is that you can start turning survey points into real-world gift cards from just 200 points – or $2. As such – and especially taking into account the introductory points that you will earn when you first sign up, it won’t take long to make your first cash out!
