The photonics company achieved its sixth straight quarter of rising sequential revenue during Q2. Additionally, a substantial $50 million order from Lumilens has enhanced the firm’s growth trajectory in the AI infrastructure sector.
Q2 Financial Results Show 112% Revenue Growth and Reduced Losses
POET Technologies delivered second-quarter revenue totaling $569,925, marking a 13% sequential increase from Q1. Year-over-year comparisons showed an impressive 112% jump from the $268,469 recorded in last year’s second quarter. This performance represents the company’s sixth consecutive period of sequential revenue expansion.
The photonics specialist posted a net loss of $11.3 million for the quarter, an improvement from the $12.3 million loss recorded in Q1. Per-share losses decreased to $0.07 from $0.08 in the preceding quarter. Compared to the year-ago period’s $17.3 million loss, the company demonstrated meaningful progress in narrowing its deficit.
Investment in research and development climbed to $5.8 million as the company accelerated innovation initiatives. This represents an increase from $4.5 million in Q1 and $3.1 million during the comparable quarter last year. Operating cash consumption totaled $12.2 million versus $8.8 million in the first quarter.
Major Lumilens Partnership Brings $50 Million Initial Order
POET Technologies announced a significant $50 million initial purchase order stemming from its strategic collaboration with Lumilens. This arrangement involves producing optical engines utilizing POET’s proprietary Optical Interposer platform for next-generation computing applications. The partnership framework could potentially deliver cumulative orders surpassing $500 million across a five-year timeline.
Following the quarter’s conclusion, the company also announced an additional $2.4 million order from a current client. POET established a partnership with a leading laser manufacturer for an external light-source engine solution. The company also gained exclusive rights to a specialized component that enhances performance from its Blazar hybrid laser technology.
These strategic agreements position POET favorably for its anticipated optical engine production expansion scheduled for the latter half of 2026. The company specializes in developing photonic integrated circuits, advanced light sources, and optical modules serving data center and high-performance computing markets. These new partnerships create substantial opportunities as demand accelerates for high-bandwidth optical connectivity solutions.
Strong Balance Sheet Following $400 Million Capital Raise
POET closed the second quarter with $796.3 million in cash and liquid investments after successfully completing a major financing round in May. The capital raise generated $400 million through the sale of 19,047,620 units priced at $21 per unit. Each unit comprised one common share plus one warrant exercisable at $26.25, with expiration in May 2029.
This substantial funding provides POET with the financial flexibility to scale manufacturing infrastructure and meet projected customer requirements. The capital also supports the production acceleration associated with the Lumilens collaboration. POET recently brought on Sandeep Kumar as chief operating officer to lead the company’s expanding production activities.
On August 11, POET granted 2,453,271 restricted stock units to company executives. The award valuation utilized the August 10 closing stock price of $8.56. These equity incentives will vest in equal installments over three years according to the company’s 2026 incentive compensation program.
