Plug Power (PLUG) began Friday’s trading session at $2.18, with its recent upward momentum showing signs of exhaustion. Following a climb from its 52-week low of $1.41, the shares are now retreating as market participants assess whether optimistic expectations have already been factored into the price before Q2 2026 results arrive.
The equity’s 52-week peak stands at $4.58, meaning current pricing remains substantially below that level. The 50-day moving average rests at $2.56, while the 200-day average sits at $2.60—both positioned above today’s trading range.
The current decline seems to stem from investors locking in gains. The forthcoming Q2 earnings announcement is generating some hesitation, despite analyst projections indicating further narrowing of quarterly losses.
During Q1 2026, PLUG delivered earnings per share of -$0.08, surpassing the consensus projection of -$0.09. Revenue totaling $163.51 million exceeded analyst forecasts of $139.87 million by a considerable amount. This represents improvement from -$0.21 EPS during the comparable quarter in the prior year.
However, the organization continues to operate with a negative net margin of 227.13% and a negative return on equity measuring 49.30%. Wall Street analysts project annual EPS of -$0.25 for the full year.
