The cryptocurrency investment landscape welcomed a significant development as Bitwise introduced the United States’ first exchange-traded fund offering direct exposure to NEAR Protocol. Trading commenced on NYSE Arca September 29 with the ticker symbol NRR.
This investment vehicle maintains direct NEAR token holdings and imposes a 0.75% yearly management charge. Investors can access shares during standard market hours using conventional brokerage platforms.
The asset manager intends to generate additional returns by staking the fund’s token allocation through its dedicated institutional operations. Bitwise referenced the network’s approximate 5% staking yield, acknowledging that reward percentages fluctuate based on network conditions.
Market data from CoinGecko showed NEAR changing hands around $4.94 Tuesday. The digital asset has posted approximately 167% gains throughout the preceding month and demonstrates an 81% year-over-year appreciation.

The overall cryptocurrency market capitalization increased 0.69% to reach $2.9 trillion during this timeframe. Bitcoin positioned near $84,000, while Ether traded around $2,700, XRP maintained levels above $1.50, and Solana exceeded $120.
Notwithstanding the monthly appreciation, NEAR experienced a 4.62% decline across the most recent 24-hour period, settling near $4.97. The token sustained support above the $4.90 threshold when the ETF announcement emerged.
NEAR Intents Protocol and Emerging AI Applications
The NEAR Intents infrastructure, which facilitates cross-chain transaction processing, has recorded cumulative volume exceeding $32 billion. This represents a substantial expansion from the sub-$1 billion levels registered approximately twelve months earlier.
Matt Hougan, Bitwise’s chief investment officer, shared with Cointelegraph that artificial intelligence agents represent an expanding application for NEAR. He noted that human users currently generate the majority of network transactions.
NEAR Protocol’s verified account acknowledged the ETF milestone on X, stating that the Bitwise NEAR ETF provides institutional participants exposure to “the protocol powering universal markets, the privacy renaissance, and user-owned AI.” The announcement referenced additional fund documentation and featured listing imagery.
Investment giant BlackRock published research documentation last week suggesting AI agents may accelerate adoption of stablecoins and tokenized instruments as machine-to-machine commerce expands. The analysis identified artificial intelligence as a potential catalyst for digital asset utilization.
Hougan highlighted the protocol’s cross-chain functionality as a contributor to Intents’ expansion. He characterized blockchain bridging as a persistent obstacle spanning nearly ten years, imposing temporal and financial burdens on participants.
Critical Price Thresholds
Four-hour charting positioned NEAR near $4.93, with the latest candlestick recording a 0.35% advance. This movement followed September’s dramatic ascent from approximately $2.00 to levels exceeding $5.00.

The four-hour relative strength index registered 51.57, indicating neutral momentum territory. The MACD indicator remained positioned beneath its signal line, accompanied by negative histogram readings.
Sustained movement above $5.00 would establish upward trajectories toward $5.30, followed by $6.00. Inability to maintain the $5.00 level could trigger retracement toward $4.70, with $4.50 representing additional downside support.
The NEAR Intents infrastructure additionally intercepted more than $50 million in transfers associated with this week’s $387.5 million Bitget security breach. The SHIELD protection mechanism successfully froze roughly $503,000 during transaction execution, though approximately $166,000 in potentially compromised assets completed processing through the protocol.
