Meta Platforms (META) shares climbed roughly 7% on Monday as market participants embraced the swift early success of its Muse personal AI assistant. The stock reached approximately $710 during trading hours following Friday’s close at $665.75.
Muse debuted in the United States on September 8 and rapidly ascended to become the top free application download on Apple’s U.S. App Store. According to Sensor Tower data, the application accumulated over 730,000 U.S. downloads during its initial 10-day period.
Differing from conventional chatbot interfaces, Muse operates as a task-completion agent working on users’ behalf. The application handles travel reservations, email communications, form submissions, online purchases and various other complex workflows.
This early momentum is reshaping perspectives on Meta’s substantial AI investment strategy. The company anticipates capital expenditures ranging from $130 billion to $145 billion this year to expand its AI infrastructure capabilities.
Wells Fargo Upgrades Meta Price Target to $796
Wells Fargo analyst Ken Gawrelski elevated the firm’s price target for Meta to $796 from $640 while retaining an Overweight rating. The analyst pointed to Muse’s early success and strengthening confidence in Meta’s AI product development trajectory.
Wells Fargo reported that U.S. Muse downloads hit a peak of 264,000 on September 19. Daily active user counts reached 448,000 one day prior, based on Sensor Tower information referenced by the firm.
The financial institution did not adjust its revenue projections upward, however. Additionally, it lowered its 2026 operating income forecast to reflect anticipated increases in legal expenses.
Muse represents a potential additional revenue channel for Meta beyond its advertising business. The platform offers premium subscription options alongside free access, establishing a direct monetization pathway for consumer AI engagement.
This opportunity carries particular significance given that Meta’s flagship platformsāFacebook, Instagram and WhatsAppāalready serve billions of users worldwide. The company could theoretically deploy Muse throughout this established user ecosystem without creating an entirely new audience.
Meta Connect Emerges as Next Major Event
Investors are now focused on Meta Connect, scheduled to commence on Wednesday. Wells Fargo anticipates Meta will share additional Muse adoption metrics and potentially unveil new capabilities during the conference.
Early indications suggest third-party platform access may present complications. Amazon has prevented Muse from executing purchases on Amazon.com and indicated Meta’s agent was utilizing the service without proper authorization.
Amazon stated that external agents should function with transparency and honor a platform’s choice regarding participation. Meta has not publicly outlined its approach to resolving Amazon’s concerns.
This issue carries weight because Muse’s functionality relies partially on seamless integration with websites, e-commerce services, email systems and other digital platforms. Should major corporations limit access, several of Muse’s primary agent capabilities could face implementation challenges.
User confidence presents another consideration, as a personal agent necessitates access to substantial volumes of sensitive data. Meta indicates that Muse operates within a protected virtual machine environment, mandates approval for sensitive operations and empowers users to determine which services the agent can access.
The stock has already appreciated roughly 25% throughout September, elevating expectations entering the Connect conference. Strong initial download figures don’t yet demonstrate whether users will maintain engagement, purchase subscriptions or generate sufficient revenue to validate Meta’s escalating AI expenditures.
For Monday’s trading session, however, the driving force is evident. Muse’s rapid adoption combined with Wells Fargo’s $796 price target have provided investors with renewed evidence that Meta’s AI investments may materialize into a consumer product with widespread market appeal.
