Key Highlights
- BTC maintained support above $78,400 following a robust 24% monthly increase, marking its strongest performance since November 2024
- Among major cryptocurrencies, only HYPE recorded gains of 4%, while Ethereum, Solana, Tron, and Dogecoin experienced declines
- Strategy executed a $370 million Bitcoin acquisition last week, marking its initial purchase in approximately eight weeks
- American spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded nine consecutive days of capital inflows before experiencing a $202 million withdrawal on Friday
- Both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes delivered their most impressive August returns since 2021, though September typically represents the weakest period for equities
Bitcoin remained firmly positioned above the $78,400 threshold during Tuesday’s Asian trading session, demonstrating resilience while other risk-oriented assets experienced modest retreats. The leading cryptocurrency oscillated within a range of $77,200 to $79,200 throughout the 24-hour period, ultimately settling with minimal change.

The month of August proved remarkably bullish for Bitcoin. The digital asset registered a 24% appreciation, establishing it as the most successful monthly period since November 2024.
Divergent Performance Across Cryptocurrency Sector
HYPE emerged as the session’s exceptional performer, advancing approximately 4% to approach $84. The majority of other prominent digital currencies experienced downward pressure.
Ethereum declined roughly 1% to settle marginally above $2,440. Solana experienced comparable losses, retreating to approximately $104. XRP maintained its position just beneath $1.40, while BNB remained anchored near $693.
Tron and Dogecoin registered the session’s most significant declines, each surrendering approximately 2%. Tron stabilized near 33 cents while Dogecoin traded around 8 cents.
Strategy re-emerged in the market as an active Bitcoin accumulator last week, deploying $370 million. This transaction represented the company’s first acquisition in roughly two months.
American spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds experienced their most robust week of investor demand since October 2025 before Friday’s $202 million outflow terminated a nine-day accumulation streak. The $82,000 price threshold has consistently served as resistance, with Bitcoin failing to breach this level on multiple attempts.
“Market’s on edge but lacks directional conviction in the short term,” said Jasper De Maere, OTC trader at Wintermute.
Perpetual contract open interest has declined to its lowest level since May, which market observers interpret as evidence that the August rally derived primarily from spot market demand rather than leveraged speculation.
Equities Conclude August on Positive Note Despite Historical September Weakness
American equity indexes retreated on August’s final trading day. The S&P 500 shed 0.3%, the Nasdaq declined 0.1%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average surrendered 0.7%, representing a 373-point loss.

Notwithstanding the month-end decline, all three benchmark indexes concluded August in positive territory. The S&P 500 advanced 2.6% for the complete month while the Nasdaq registered a 3.9% gain. Both performances represented their strongest August showing since 2021.
Market strategists identified escalating oil prices as a constraining factor. Brent crude advanced nearly 1% to approximately $91 per barrel following US military operations near the Strait of Hormuz during the weekend.
Renewed tensions involving Iran propelled oil prices higher and intensified pressure on markets already closely monitoring Federal Reserve policy signals.
The US 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 4.78%. Market participants now assign approximately 64% probability to a rate increase at the September 16 Federal Reserve meeting, elevated from roughly 36% prior to Chair Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole remarks.
Historical data indicates September represents the most challenging month for equity performance. Both the S&P 500 and Dow typically decline an average of 1.1% during September. The Nasdaq experiences an average 0.8% retreat.
Friday’s employment report will serve as the final significant labor market indicator before the September Federal Reserve policy decision. Robust employment figures could drive yields higher and potentially push Bitcoin back toward its overnight nadir of $77,200.
