Second Quarter Revenue Declines Amid Marketing Headwinds
For the three months ended June 30, Baidu posted total revenue of RMB31.3 billion ($4.62 billion), reflecting a 4% decrease compared to the same period in the prior year. Sequential revenue also softened by 2% from Q1 as legacy business segments faced persistent challenges. The company’s General Business division recorded RMB25.2 billion in revenue, down 4% year-over-year.
The online marketing division, historically a cornerstone of Baidu’s revenue stream, generated RMB13.1 billion during the quarter—a substantial 19% year-over-year decline. The segment did show modest sequential improvement with a 4% increase from Q1 as management implemented strategic adjustments to advertising operations. Despite the contraction, online marketing still comprised 52% of General Business revenue for the period.
On the profitability front, Baidu recorded operating income of RMB3.0 billion with a 10% operating margin. Net income attributable to the company reached RMB2.3 billion, translating to diluted earnings of RMB5.74 per American Depositary Share. Notably, operating cash flow maintained positive territory for the fourth consecutive quarter, totaling RMB3.4 billion.
Explosive GPU Cloud Expansion Powers AI Business Transformation
Baidu‘s Core AI-powered Business segment delivered RMB12.5 billion in second-quarter revenue, representing a robust 25% year-over-year increase. While the segment experienced an 8% sequential decline from Q1’s RMB13.6 billion, it now accounts for approximately 50% of General Business revenue, reflecting the growing importance of AI operations.
The AI Cloud Infrastructure component posted particularly impressive results with RMB7.3 billion in quarterly revenue—a 50% year-over-year jump. The standout performer was GPU Cloud, which delivered extraordinary 283% revenue growth compared to the prior year period. This acceleration represents significant momentum from the previous quarter’s already-strong 184% growth rate, demonstrating intensifying demand for cloud-based computing infrastructure.
AI Applications contributed RMB2.5 billion to quarterly revenue, marking a 3% increase both year-over-year and sequentially. The AI-native marketing services division generated RMB2.6 billion, essentially flat compared to Q2 2025. Baidu’s flagship mobile application maintained strong user engagement with 644 million monthly active users recorded in June.
Apollo Go International Rollout Accelerates Alongside Hong Kong Listing Plans
Throughout the second quarter and subsequent weeks, Baidu aggressively expanded its Apollo Go autonomous vehicle service into new international territories. The robotaxi platform conducted pilot testing programs in London and Switzerland while successfully launching fully autonomous commercial operations in Dubai. Apollo Go also secured regulatory approvals for driverless testing in Hong Kong as part of its global expansion strategy.
The autonomous ride-hailing service now operates across 28 cities worldwide and has logged more than 350 million autonomous kilometers. Of particular significance, fully driverless operations—without safety drivers—have accumulated over 240 million kilometers throughout Baidu’s growing autonomous vehicle network. The company also established a strategic partnership with Turlov Private Holding to investigate autonomous transportation opportunities in Kazakhstan.
On the corporate structure front, Baidu is progressing with plans to convert its Hong Kong stock exchange presence into a dual-primary listing arrangement during 2026. Management has scheduled an extraordinary shareholder meeting for August 26 to obtain approval for the proposed listing conversion. Since the beginning of 2026, Baidu has allocated $259 million toward share repurchase programs, returning capital to shareholders.
