Chainlink (LINK) successfully pushed through the $9.04 resistance barrier on August 15, breaking free from a consolidation pattern that had dominated price action since June. The digital asset peaked at $9.73 during the session before stabilizing in the $9.45–$9.56 range, signaling a notable shift in market momentum.

This price movement coincided with a dramatic 123% surge in daily trading volume, which crossed the $1 billion threshold. Simultaneously, open interest in derivatives contracts expanded by 16% to reach $694.39 million, suggesting fresh liquidity flowing into the market beyond mere position rotation.
The token’s total market capitalization expanded to approximately $7.15 billion following the upward price action.
Large Holder Activity Reaches March Levels
Blockchain analytics platform Santiment detected 246 individual transactions exceeding $100,000 in value — the highest concentration of whale activity recorded since March. Addresses containing between 100,000 and 10 million LINK tokens now hold 46.57% of the entire supply, equivalent to approximately 466 million tokens.
The surge in large holder accumulation aligned with LINK’s approach and subsequent breach of the $9.04 level, rather than occurring during earlier recovery phases. This correlation strengthens the case for a legitimate breakout pattern.
Technical indicators reflected bullish momentum, with the Relative Strength Index advancing to 71.40 and Chaikin Money Flow registering 0.18, both indicating sustained buying pressure. However, the RSI reading above 70 suggests the rally may be entering overbought territory, potentially setting the stage for a temporary consolidation.
Institutional Product Attracts Fresh Capital
The Bitwise Chainlink ETF registered approximately $1.5 million in net inflows throughout the week. Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley acknowledged the data, highlighting that investors are demonstrating increased recognition of Chainlink’s infrastructure role within decentralized finance ecosystems.
Chainlink’s technology serves as a bridge between blockchain networks and external data sources, delivering real-world information including pricing feeds and financial system integrations. Horsley emphasized the expanding understanding among traditional investors regarding blockchain infrastructure’s integration with conventional financial markets.
The ETF capital flows demonstrate growing appetite for regulated investment vehicles that provide LINK price exposure without requiring direct token custody.
Market analysts have established a $20 price objective for LINK. Immediate attention centers on whether the token can establish support above the $10 psychological level, with subsequent targets identified at $10.50 and $11.
Should LINK drop below the $9.04 breakout level, technical support exists within the $8.49 to $8.58 zone.
At present, LINK is changing hands around $9.56, reflecting a 15% appreciation over the trailing seven-day period.
