Cash App has removed fees on large Bitcoin purchases and recurring buys. The move supports Jack Dorsey’s goal to make Bitcoin everyday money.
Block Inc owned Cash App announced a broad update to its Bitcoin pricing and payment features. The company eliminated fees and spreads on Bitcoin purchases above $2,000. It also made all recurring Auto Invest purchases free, regardless of size. The changes aim to reduce costs and improve access to Bitcoin payments.
The update also includes zero fee Lightning Network spending. Users can now pay Lightning merchants using their USD balance. The app converts USD to Bitcoin at checkout without extra cost.
Cash App Changes Its Bitcoin Fee Structure
Cash App previously charged a service fee and included a spread in Bitcoin prices. Fees varied by transaction size. Smaller transactions often carried higher percentage costs.
Independent data showed small purchases could cost about 3%. Transactions up to $100 could cost about 2.25 percent. Mid sized purchases ranged between 1.5 and 1.75 percent. Larger buys of several thousand dollars carried fees near 0.75 to 1 percent.
Under the new structure, Bitcoin purchases above $2,000 have no fees or spreads. Recurring Auto Invest buys are also free. These automated purchases allow users to buy Bitcoin at set intervals. The company said the new model supports long term participation and smoother transactions.
Cash App also said it will provide clearer pricing details. Users will see transparent cost breakdowns before confirming trades.
Zero Fee Lightning Payments With USD Conversion
Cash App expanded its Lightning Network features as part of the update. Lightning payments are now processed without fees. This applies to payments made directly from Bitcoin balances.
A new feature allows users to pay Lightning merchants with their USD balance. The app converts USD to Bitcoin instantly at checkout. There are no added conversion fees. This process happens automatically within the app.
The company said the feature aims to reduce friction during payments. Users do not need to pre convert funds into Bitcoin. The payment flow remains within the standard checkout process.
Higher Withdrawal Limits and Expanded Funding Options
Cash App also raised Bitcoin withdrawal limits for eligible customers. Withdrawal caps increased five fold. This allows users to move more Bitcoin off the platform.
The company expanded funding options for larger purchases. These changes are designed to make high value transactions smoother. Users can complete large Bitcoin buys with fewer constraints.
Jack Dorsey has long supported Bitcoin as a form of everyday money. The recent updates reflect that direction. By removing fees and enabling instant Lightning payments, Cash App positions Bitcoin for routine transactions.
