In a comprehensive research report, Grayscale has outlined an optimistic outlook for Zcash (ZEC), asserting that the privacy-centric digital asset remains significantly underpriced and possesses the potential to gain substantial ground against Bitcoin’s market leadership throughout the coming five-year period.
According to Zach Pandl, who leads research efforts at Grayscale, ZEC demonstrates considerable potential to rival Bitcoin thanks to its robust privacy capabilities. Pandl emphasized the increasing consumer appetite for financial confidentiality as artificial intelligence-driven monitoring systems continue expanding their reach.
The research head also drew attention to Zcash’s continuous evolution to defend against emerging quantum computing threats, alongside its strengthening interoperability across different blockchain networks as key factors supporting the positive forecast.
Leveraging “intents” infrastructure, Zcash operates differently from traditional cryptocurrencies, according to Pandl, eliminating the requirement for extensive merchant acceptance. He characterized the network as functioning like a “private asset hub with universal connectivity” accessible to both individual users and autonomous AI systems.
The digital currency has surged approximately 70% in recent weeks and posted gains exceeding 350% throughout the current year. Nevertheless, ZEC’s market valuation still represents below 1% of Bitcoin’s aggregate market capitalization.

According to Grayscale’s analytical framework, securing just 2% of Bitcoin’s market dominance would elevate ZEC prices above the $1,622 threshold. Should Zcash achieve 10% of Bitcoin’s market capitalization over the next five years, the price projection extends to $8,100.
First U.S. Spot Zcash ETF Hits Market via Grayscale
Grayscale introduced ZCSH to NYSE Arca on August 26, marking the debut of America’s first spot-based Zcash exchange-traded fund. The investment vehicle emerged from converting the previously established Grayscale Zcash Trust into a complete ETF framework.
First-day trading activity for the fund reached $14.8 million. Initial trading saw gains exceeding 3.5% before momentum shifted, resulting in a closing decline of 1.54% to $63.10.
The conversion to ETF status provides shareholders with enhanced liquidity compared to the previous trust arrangement, incorporating mechanisms for share creation and redemption. These features facilitate tighter tracking between the fund’s market price and its net asset value.
Market Response to ETF Launch
ZEC was trading near $790 during reporting hours, experiencing a roughly 7% pullback following a strong weekly advance. Intraday price action spanned from a low of $754.93 to a peak of $847.10.
Derivatives market data revealed that futures open interest contracted 12% to $1.65 billion during the initial 24-hour period after the ETF’s introduction, with notable reductions visible on Binance, OKX, and Hyperliquid platforms. Recent hours have witnessed a resurgence in purchasing activity within cryptocurrency derivatives markets.
Market analyst Justin Spittler commented via X platform that $ZEC was displaying “one of the most bullish base breakouts in the entire market,” identifying it as a frontrunner among major liquid digital assets. While anticipating near-term volatility surrounding the breakout threshold, Spittler maintained expectations for substantially higher price levels ahead.
ZEC trading volumes contracted as market participants awaited upcoming PCE inflation figures and approaching cryptocurrency options expiration events.
