XRP turned positive in April after months of losses and weak sentiment. The token rose more than 2% this month to $1.35. The move followed a 63% wipeout from earlier highs. It also came as retail fear hit a two-year extreme and ETF flows improved.
The recovery has shifted attention to one Wall Street metric. US XRP ETFs recorded about $12 million in net inflows in April, according to SoSoValue. That reversed March outflows and gave XRP a chance to post its first green month since September 2025.
ETF flows swing back toward XRP
US-based XRP ETFs added about $12 million in April. In March, those products saw more than $31 million in net outflows. The change suggested that risk appetite improved after a weak first quarter.
CoinShares also reported about $20 million in net inflows into global XRP products this month. That showed the buying was broader than the US market. It also kept XRP among the stronger assets for institutional inflows this year.
CryptoRank data showed XRP on track for its first positive monthly close since September 2025. Traders often track ETF flows for early signs of momentum. In April, that signal turned higher while spot price steadied.
Retail fear stays high as Japan access expands
Retail traders were far less upbeat than fund buyers. Santiment said XRP fear reached its third-highest point in two years. That reading followed a nine-month slide that left many holders frustrated.
Past periods of heavy fear often appeared near turning points in crypto markets. Analysts cited that pattern, though no sentiment signal is certain. Even so, the rebound drew more attention as price and inflows rose together.
XRP also gained a wider retail route in Asia this month. Rakuten added XRP to Rakuten Wallet, opening access to 46 million users in Japan. Users can buy XRP with loyalty points and spend it at more than 5 million affiliated merchants.
Reports among XRP supporters also mentioned bank tests between Japan and Southeast Asia. moneycheck said it could not verify those claims by press time. Still, the reports added to the focus on XRP’s payment use.
XRPL adds privacy tools and tightens security
XRPL Commons and Boundless built a RISC-V zero-knowledge verifier for the XRP Ledger. The tool lets a transaction prove validity without exposing key details. That approach targets privacy needs that often limit institutional use.
The rollout is planned in stages during 2026. Smart Escrows are set for the second quarter and will require valid zero-knowledge proofs. Smart Vaults are expected later for more private financial activity.
XRPL Commons framed the update as part of a push toward enterprise use. Odelia Torteman said, ”XRPL has always been built for institutional finance.” Ripple and Sherlock also launched a $550,000 audit contest on April 13.
