American equity futures demonstrated upward momentum Tuesday morning as market participants sought to regain lost territory amid ongoing geopolitical concerns in the Middle East and persistent debates surrounding artificial intelligence capital expenditures.
Futures tied to the S&P 500 advanced 0.42%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures increased 0.31%. Futures for the Cboe Volatility Index climbed 2.09%.
Sandisk emerged as the top performer in premarket activity, surging 7.3%. Coherent Corp posted a 7.0% increase. MaxLinear, Western Digital, and Powell Industries each registered advances exceeding 6%.
Among decliners, First Citizens Bancshares Class A plummeted 38.4% during premarket hours. Equifax shares declined 11.2%.
Artificial Intelligence Sector Spotlight
Nebius shares jumped 6% following Nvidia’s regulatory filing revealing beneficial ownership of a 9.3% stake in the artificial intelligence cloud infrastructure provider. The position encompasses a $2 billion investment announced previously plus 21.1 million shares linked to a purchase warrant dated March.
Nvidia faces restrictions preventing warrant exercise or share sales until September 11, 2026. Nevertheless, the revelation strengthened market sentiment toward Nebius.
Taiwan Semiconductor advanced 4% after Nikkei Asia disclosed the semiconductor manufacturer intends to implement wafer price increases reaching 10% in 2027. Advanced chip orders exceeding customer projections may incur additional premiums of 10% to 15%. Mature-node chip pricing will also increase up to 10%.
Corporate Results and Market Commodities
Crown Holdings exceeded second-quarter projections while elevating its annual forecast. The company posted adjusted earnings per share of $2.49 alongside revenue totaling $3.67 billion. Beverage can shipments expanded 5% worldwide, with Asian markets delivering double-digit percentage growth.
General Motors rose 0.7% after delivering second-quarter results surpassing expectations and increasing its full-year financial guidance.
Cracker Barrel advanced 2.7% following the restaurant chain’s announcement that it anticipates meeting or surpassing full-year revenue projections after divesting its Maple Street Biscuit business.
D.R. Horton remained unchanged despite the homebuilder’s third-quarter earnings and revenue exceeding analyst forecasts.
Magnolia Oil and Gas declined 6% after establishing pricing for a public offering of 46.3 million Class A shares at $23.75, generating approximately $1.1 billion to finance the acquisition of WildFire Intermediate Holdings.
Zions Bancorporation retreated 4% after falling short of second-quarter net interest income and net interest margin projections, despite adjusted earnings per share of $1.74 surpassing consensus estimates.
Within commodity markets, Brent crude oil futures increased 1.42%. Gold futures appreciated 1.16%. Bitcoin climbed 1.67% to $66,174. The 10-year Treasury yield advanced to 4.606%.
