Strategy (MSTR) stock closed Friday at $154.34, down 7% for the week. It was up less than 1% before Monday’s market open.
The company bought 250 BTC for $21.5 million between Oct. 5 and Oct. 11. The average price was $86,194 per coin.
It was the second week in a row of smaller purchases. Michael Saylor hinted at the buy on Sunday with a post on X reading “There’s always room for more orange.”
Strategy paid for most of the purchase by selling about $21 million of MSTR stock. Cash covered the other $500,000.
The at-the-market program still has $18.8 billion of MSTR stock available to sell as of Oct. 11. Saylor’s tracker posts have often come a day before an announcement, though that pattern has been less steady lately.
What Strategy Holds Now
Strategy now holds 848,250 BTC, worth about $70.6 billion. Its average cost is $75,444 per coin, or roughly $64 billion in total.
That works out to a paper gain of about $6.6 billion. The stack equals more than 4% of Bitcoin’s 21 million supply cap.
Bitcoin Treasuries data shows 198 public companies hold Bitcoin in some form. Metaplanet ranks second with 44,000 BTC.
Twenty One holds 43,514 BTC and MARA holds 35,577 BTC. Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company rounds out the top five with 30,021 BTC.
MSTR is flat year to date. Bitcoin itself fell 4.5% over the past week.
Preferred Stock and Analyst Targets
Strategy spent $192.4 million repurchasing STRC preferred stock last week. That is up from $176.3 million the week before.
The company’s USD Reserve stands at $4.88 billion. It supports preferred dividends and debt interest payments.
USD Cash was $640.5 million as of Sunday. STRC was poised to open Monday at $99.68.
TD Cowen raised its Bitcoin forecasts on Thursday but left its $260 MSTR target unchanged. The firm said dilution and the company’s obligations will likely limit upside.
That target implies about 70% upside from Friday’s close. The firm expects Bitcoin near $109,000 by year end and $280,000 by 2029.
Buying has slowed in recent months. Holdings grew just 0.2% in the third quarter, with 7,218 BTC bought and 5,553 BTC sold.
The SEC is closed Monday for Columbus Day, and Strategy usually reports its purchases there. This time, the company announced the latest buy on its own website.
