Solana (SOL) was exchanging hands around $97.50 on Aug. 26 following a robust weekly performance that lifted the digital asset over 20% from its Aug. 20 trough of $85.37.

This upward movement carried SOL past the $87.50 and $93.75 resistance thresholds and momentarily beyond the $100 psychological level, touching an intraday peak of $102.59 on Aug. 25. Subsequent profit-taking activity triggered a pullback, with SOL now consolidating just beneath the $100 mark.
The weekly appreciation registered roughly 14% as of this writing.
The advance received support from broader cryptocurrency market dynamics. U.S. Treasury liquidity operations drove government bond yields downward and softened the dollar, alleviating pressure on speculative assets. Forced liquidations exceeding $4 billion in short positions across digital asset markets over multiple days generated compulsory buying activity.
SOL capitalized on this squeeze owing to its elevated volatility profile relative to Bitcoin. Forced short covering combined with momentum-driven purchases propelled the token through the $100 level.
Institutional Demand Reaches 2026 Peak
The price action found validation in institutional appetite. Spot Solana exchange-traded funds registered $33.5 million in net capital inflows during Monday’s session exclusively — representing the largest single-day figure recorded in 2026. Aggregate Solana ETF inflows have now climbed to an all-time high of $1.22 billion, with the ongoing positive streak extending to five trading days. Weekly inflows amounted to roughly $65.74 million, also establishing a 2026 record.
Blockchain analytics reinforced this narrative. Solana processed 4.2 billion cumulative transactions during July, reflecting a 13.5% monthly increase from June. The network overtook Base in daily x402 micropayment transaction volume for the first instance in half a year. Additionally, Ramp incorporated AI-agent wallet functionality on Solana, broadening the network’s application in automated transaction processing.
Supply Reduction Proposals Gain Traction
Wu Blockchain disclosed that Solana is progressing two governance initiatives. SIMD-550 proposes doubling the yearly disinflation rate from -15% to -30%, expediting arrival at Solana’s 1.5% terminal inflation benchmark from 2032 to the first half of 2029. SIMD-553, which received approval and integration on July 20, establishes a burn mechanism on compute units. Per 21Shares analysis, daily SOL token burns could escalate from 600–800 SOL to 7,500–9,000 SOL. Collectively, these measures may curtail issuance by $1.4B–$1.5B throughout a six-year timeframe.
Digital asset analyst CryptosBatman observed on X that SOL is examining a significant resistance area following a powerful breakout, suggesting that if purchasing activity maintains support at prior resistance-turned-support levels, an advance toward $120 remains viable.
From a technical perspective, the 4-hour Chaikin Money Flow indicator registers 0.14, demonstrating that buying momentum continues in positive territory. The daily RSI measurement stands at 79.32, exceeding the 70 overbought threshold.
Pseudonymous market participant Altcoin Sherpa projected SOL could achieve $120 contingent on Bitcoin price stability. Analyst Haris identified the $98–$102 range as a possible bull trap scenario, with $92 serving as the initial downside target should SOL encounter renewed rejection.
The liquidation heatmap reveals concentrated leveraged positions clustered near $98.90–$99.10 and $100. A decisive break above $99 could initiate another short squeeze driving toward $102–$103.
