Debt Facility Maturity Pushed to Mid-2027 Under New Agreement
Sigma Lithium reached an amended agreement with Synergy Capital to defer its $100 million senior secured credit facility. Under the revised terms, the maturity date shifts from December 2026 to June 2027, providing an additional six months before principal repayment comes due. The interest rate structure remains unchanged throughout the extension period.
The financing continues to carry an annual cost of SOFR plus 6.95%, with all prior covenant requirements and default clauses staying in effect. This renegotiated arrangement now covers roughly 93% of Sigma Lithium‘s total outstanding obligations. Management views the extension as critical breathing room while the Brazilian operation scales output and cash generation intensifies.
The lithium miner has made substantial progress deleveraging its balance sheet through operational cash flow. Beginning in Q2 2024, Sigma Lithium retired over $90 million in borrowings, shrinking total indebtedness by approximately 40%. By October 21, 2026, aggregate debt stood at $125 million, down from significantly higher levels two years prior.
Brazilian Operations Resume With Early Output and Ambitious Production Goals
Production activities at Sigma Lithium’s Brazilian facility recommenced on October 5 after a federal court ruling restored the necessary environmental permits. In the initial 17 days following the restart, the operation generated 7,090 tonnes of lithium oxide concentrate. This early performance signals the site’s ability to return to full operational tempo.
The company continues to target annualized production of 330,000 tonnes by year-end 2027. Achievement of this milestone depends on full utilization of its Cleantech Industrial Plant and associated recycling systems. Company leadership anticipates that increased throughput combined with current lithium pricing will deliver positive operating cash flow to support debt service.
Third-quarter 2026 operational and financial metrics are scheduled for release no later than November 13. The quarterly disclosure will detail production tonnage, shipment volumes, realized pricing, unit costs, and ending cash positions. These numbers will offer investors greater visibility into the company’s financial trajectory ahead of the June 2027 maturity date.
Regional Economic Impact Expands Across Brazilian Communities
