Shares of SanDisk closed Friday’s trading session at $1,740, marking an impressive 11.9% single-day advance following official confirmation of the company’s upcoming promotion to the S&P 100 index on September 21. The rally positioned SNDK as the leading gainer within the S&P 500 for that trading day and elevated its market capitalization to approximately $273 billion. Year-to-date performance for 2026 now stands at roughly 500%.
The fundamental metrics supporting this remarkable ascent are compelling. The company’s latest quarterly report disclosed revenue of $8.97 billion, representing a 372% climb compared to the prior-year period. Gross profit margins reached 84.6%, while data-center segment revenue more than doubled on a sequential basis to hit $2.98 billion. Looking ahead, management has guided toward revenue of up to $10.8 billion for the upcoming quarter.
Additionally, the company expanded its outstanding share-repurchase authorization to $15.5 billion, equivalent to approximately 5.7% of current market capitalization. Such substantial buyback programs typically draw significant interest from institutional asset managers.
Multi-Year Contracts Provide Revenue Stability
A particularly noteworthy strategic transformation at SanDisk involves its departure from traditional spot-market NAND transactions. The organization has executed long-term supply arrangements with eight data-center partners, including three major US hyperscalers, representing a combined minimum contract value of $93.9 billion.
These arrangements incorporate both minimum pricing floors and maximum pricing ceilings. According to the CFO, the floor pricing structure underpins gross margins at approximately 80%. The contracts are projected to account for 50% of bit shipments during fiscal 2027, increasing to 67% in fiscal 2028.
In its 10-K filing, SanDisk characterizes these innovative commercial structures as the company’s strategic direction moving forward, delivering enhanced revenue predictability and improved production planning capabilities. While not eliminating all market uncertainties, these agreements provide substantially greater forward visibility compared to conventional NAND suppliers.
The company also continues its established joint venture partnership with Kioxia at the Yokkaichi manufacturing facility in Japan, recently extended through December 2034. Combined, the partnership represents 33% of worldwide wafer production capacity. This collaboration enables both entities to distribute manufacturing expenses and collaborate on technological advancement.
High-Bandwidth Flash Presents Additional AI Opportunity
In partnership with SK Hynix, SanDisk has co-developed a high-bandwidth flash specification targeting AI inference applications. HBF technology is engineered to deliver eight to 16 times greater memory capacity at equivalent bandwidth levels compared to current alternatives.
The company has finalized the design of its inaugural HBF chip and remains on schedule for a 2027 product launch, with high-volume manufacturing planned for 2028. The initiative has garnered backing from Alphabet, Meta Platforms, and Tenstorrent. Nvidia’s participation remains unconfirmed at this time.
Notably, HBF revenue potential is excluded from SanDisk’s existing financial forecasts, which already project mid-to-high-teens revenue compound annual growth rates through fiscal 2030.
Lynx Research maintains a $2,450 price target for SNDK shares. The research firm observed that the pronounced volatility experienced during May and June has subsided, with institutional investment activity becoming more deliberate.
According to GuruFocus, SanDisk’s GF Score currently registers at 51 out of 100, reflecting robust growth metrics and solid financial strength, balanced against less favorable value and momentum indicators.
