The connected operations platform delivered impressive fiscal second-quarter earnings Thursday evening, propelling IOT stock upward by 14.4% on Friday to approximately $44.33. Shares had already climbed 5.3% on Thursday, finishing at $38.75 before the earnings announcement.
Second-quarter revenue totaled $508.4 million, representing a 30% year-over-year jump and significantly exceeding the analyst consensus of $483 million. The company’s adjusted earnings per share of 20 cents surpassed the Street’s expectation of 16 cents.
This marked Samsara’s fourth consecutive quarter of GAAP profitability, a significant achievement for a company that was previously operating at a loss.
The company’s annual recurring revenue achieved $2.125 billion, expanding 30%. Net new ARR totaled $134 million, reflecting 28% growth.
During the quarter, Samsara secured a record 242 new customers generating over $100,000 in ARR. Additionally, the company welcomed 20 customers contributing more than $1 million in ARR.
ARR from the million-dollar-plus customer segment surpassed $500 million. This metric has maintained over 50% year-over-year growth for three consecutive quarters.
Platform Adoption Deepens Among Enterprise Clients
Within the customer base generating over $100,000 in ARR, 96% utilize a minimum of two Samsara products while 72% deploy at least three. The company reports that enterprise clients are transitioning from isolated use cases to comprehensive deployments spanning multiple teams and operational functions.
“What begins with one use case often grows into the platform they rely on across assets, teams, and workflows,” said Amit Vyas, Samsara’s chief revenue officer.
Throughout the past year, customers digitized 340 million workflows and accumulated 105 billion miles on Samsara. The platform also gathered over 30 trillion data points, representing a more than 40% increase from the previous year.
Emerging product lines accounted for more than 20% of net new annual contract value for the third consecutive quarter.
Company Unveils New AI Capabilities
During the quarter, Samsara introduced multiple AI-powered products. These innovations include a Bluetooth tracking label, an AI-driven shipment center, and AI agents designed for safety, maintenance and dispatch operations.
Additional camera capabilities now encompass rear collision alerts, blind-spot warnings and a 360-degree vehicle view. Customer adoption of select newer AI features increased more than fourfold during the past two months.
The company emphasized that the massive volume of data it processes provides its AI systems with enhanced context, resulting in superior performance.
Regarding future expectations, the company increased its full-year revenue guidance to $2.043 billion-$2.047 billion from the earlier range of $2.005 billion-$2.013 billion. Full-year adjusted EPS guidance was also elevated to 76-78 cents from the previous 70-72 cents.
Wall Street rates IOT as a Strong Buy, based on 12 Buy and four Hold ratings over the past three months.
The consensus price target stands at $52.73, suggesting approximately 36% upside potential from current trading levels. Multiple analysts have raised their price targets in response to the earnings report.
IOT stock has gained 9.31% year to date but continues to trade 7.94% below its level from 12 months ago.
