TLDR
- Plasma One combines stablecoin balances, card spending, transfers, rewards and yield in one account layer.
- Users can earn XPL cashback through eligible spending and unlock higher benefits by locking XPL.
- Plasma One connects Earn balances to Aave’s USDT0 market, where yield can vary over time.
- Lite, Core and Platinum tiers segment users by spending activity, subscriptions and XPL commitment levels.
- Plasma states it is not a bank, with services powered by Bridge and Rain partners.
Plasma One has moved beyond a basic stablecoin payment tool and now presents itself as a stablecoin account for global money use. The product centers on three main features called Spend, Earn and Send.
Users can hold dollar-denominated stablecoins, spend through the Plasma One Card, receive XPL cashback on eligible purchases and send USDT through Plasma’s routing network. The product also allows users to connect balances to the Earn feature for yield access.
Plasma One has reached $1 million in cumulative transaction volume and $1 million in weekly transaction volume. These figures suggest early users are making payments, transfers and account transactions rather than only opening accounts.
The product aims to simplify a stablecoin experience that often requires wallets, exchanges, bridges, gas fees and separate yield applications. Plasma One packages these functions into a single account-based interface.
XPL Powers Cashback and Membership Tiers
Plasma One currently offers three membership tiers called Lite, Core and Platinum. Lite provides 2% base cashback, zero card issuance cost, standard support and one free virtual card.
Core is designed for more active users and offers 5% cashback on AI-related spending, 3% cashback on other purchases and a ChatGPT Go subscription. Users can access Core through a $199 annual subscription or by locking 20,000 XPL for 12 months.
Platinum is reserved for XPL holders who lock 100,000 XPL for 12 months. The tier offers 4% base cashback, 10% cashback on AI-related spending, 10% cashback on flights and subscriptions including Claude Pro and ChatGPT Plus.
Cashback is distributed in XPL after rewards accrue in dollar terms. Users can manage XPL inside the app, convert rewards into dollars for card use or withdraw the tokens.
Aave Yield and Visa Card Shape Product
The Plasma One Card is issued by Rain as a Visa Principal Member under a Visa license. Plasma says the card can be used at Visa merchants in more than 200 countries, depending on regional availability.
The account also supports Apple Pay on iOS where allowed by local rules. Android and Google Pay support are still being rolled out, while users can freeze cards or lock accounts through the app.
The Earn feature is not a bank savings account. Plasma One’s Earn vault is linked to Aave’s USDT0 market, meaning yield can change with market supply, demand and on-chain interest rates.
Plasma also states that it is “not a bank.” Account services are powered by Bridge, while card services are issued through Rain, and stablecoin balances are not protected by deposit insurance.
