NEAR Protocol has announced a collaboration with Ondo Finance to introduce tokenized U.S. equities, exchange-traded funds, and commodity-backed products to the near.com platform and the NEAR Intents infrastructure. This initial deployment provides qualified users with access to 20 tokenized financial instruments, featuring some of America’s most prominent publicly traded corporations.
Major technology companies like Tesla, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon are featured in the initial asset roster made available through this collaboration. Qualified users can additionally access instruments tied to the Invesco QQQ Trust and precious-metal exchange-traded funds such as SLV and IAU.
Tokenized Securities Integration on NEAR Protocol
This collaboration enables qualified users to convert their supported cryptocurrency holdings into tokenized securities directly, bypassing the requirement to first transfer funds into conventional brokerage platforms. The service accepts Bitcoin and USDC among other supported funding mechanisms.
Following the acquisition of a tokenized instrument, users maintain the flexibility to retain it within their account or convert it back to USDC or alternative supported cryptocurrencies. Access is determined by geographic location and adherence to Ondo’s qualification criteria.
NEAR Intents provides the underlying cross-chain infrastructure powering this service. Instead of users manually navigating bridges and transaction pathways, they simply indicate their desired outcome while independent solvers compete to identify and implement the optimal execution route.
The infrastructure currently supports interoperability across more than 30 blockchain ecosystems, encompassing Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEAR, Tron, and BNB Chain. This enables assets residing on any supported network to be directed toward tokenized securities while eliminating the need for users to manually complete each intermediary transaction.
Ondo Finance Broadens Tokenized Stock Access
Ondo Finance has previously launched tokenized securities on Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain networks. The organization reports that its tokenized securities infrastructure has accumulated over $1 billion in total value locked and has facilitated more than $26 billion in aggregate trading activity.
The NEAR collaboration provides an additional distribution mechanism while maintaining those pre-existing network deployments. Ondo Stocks will also become accessible through digital wallets, decentralized finance protocols, and various applications integrated with NEAR Intents.
Previous partnerships have similarly introduced Ondo-connected products to HyperEVM and established cross-chain functionality for tokenized stocks between Ethereum and BNB Chain. The NEAR implementation distinguishes itself by utilizing its intent-driven routing infrastructure rather than requiring users to perform manual token bridging operations.
Ondo Finance has simultaneously been developing relationships with conventional financial systems. Its U.S.-registered broker-dealer division, Oasis Pro Markets, recently became a participant in DTCC’s Fund/SERV platform, which facilitates connectivity between financial institutions and fund providers for transaction processing and settlement operations.
Geographic Access Limitations for U.S. Residents
Notwithstanding the U.S.-based companies reflected by these tokens, Ondo Stocks remain inaccessible to U.S. persons. Ondo Finance states the products have not undergone registration under the Securities Act of 1933 and cannot be offered within the United States unless properly registered or qualifying for a regulatory exemption.
Limitations extend to certain additional jurisdictions as well. Users located in territories including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Singapore may be required to satisfy professional investor qualifications before obtaining access.
The offshore Ondo Stocks product offering operates independently from the SEC’s more recent framework for tokenized U.S. securities. Products utilizing that exemption must deliver equivalent economic and ownership privileges as the conventional shares they represent.
For NEAR Protocol, this collaboration positions tokenized equities alongside cryptocurrency assets within an integrated cross-chain ecosystem. For Ondo Finance, it represents an expansion into another blockchain community as tokenized stocks assume growing significance within onchain financial infrastructure.
