Nasdaq 100 futures led the advance, jumping over 1%. S&P 500 futures posted gains of approximately 0.6%, while Dow Jones futures increased roughly 0.4%.

Micron Delivers Strong Quarterly Performance
For its fiscal fourth quarter, Micron delivered adjusted earnings of $33.42 per share, exceeding Wall Street consensus estimates of $31.16 per share.
The memory chip manufacturer also provided optimistic forward guidance for the ongoing quarter, projecting earnings per share of $38.15, plus or minus $1.00. This forecast surpassed analyst consensus of $36.02.
Micron’s stock price climbed as much as 1% during after-hours trading, though gains were temporarily erased before shares settled near unchanged levels.
The company noted some anticipated pressure on gross margins in the upcoming quarter. Additionally, Micron projected elevated operating expenses for fiscal year 2027.
Questions regarding capital allocation to shareholders emerged during the earnings call. While providing limited specifics, management indicated plans to enhance shareholder returns beginning in December.
The positive earnings results reinforced investor confidence in artificial intelligence-driven chip demand. Market participants have been closely monitoring whether AI-related spending will continue propelling technology sector earnings growth.
Asian semiconductor stocks also rallied on the earnings news, with shares advancing in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan markets.

Equities Decline Wednesday as Bond Yields Surge
Major U.S. equity indexes closed lower Wednesday as escalating bond yields maintained investor caution. The S&P 500 declined 0.25%, while the Dow retreated 0.86%. The Nasdaq Composite managed a 0.24% gain.
September proved challenging for broader markets, with the S&P 500 falling 0.4% for the month. The Dow posted a more significant 4.3% decline, while the Nasdaq advanced 1.9% during the same timeframe.
Wednesday’s inflation data came in below expectations. The personal consumption expenditures price index increased 3.4% year-over-year, beneath the forecasted 3.7% rise.
Despite the softer inflation reading, Treasury yields continued their upward trajectory. The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield surpassed 5.3% Wednesday, marking levels not observed since 2007.
The 30-year Treasury yield similarly advanced, exceeding 5.6% for the first time since 2002.
Financial markets are evaluating the Federal Reserve’s potential for additional rate increases in upcoming months. The central bank’s next policy decision is scheduled for late October.
Asian equity markets displayed mixed performance Thursday morning. Japan’s Nikkei 225 advanced 0.86%, though the Topix declined 0.44%. South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.8%. Trading was suspended in mainland China and Hong Kong for holiday observances.
Market attention now turns to additional economic releases scheduled this week. Initial jobless claims data was expected Thursday morning.
