Jamie Foxx has broken his silence regarding the conspiracy theories surrounding his 2023 hospitalization during the filming of his upcoming Netflix comedy special “What Had Happened Was” in Atlanta.
The 56-year-old actor’s comments about Sean “Diddy” Combs have sparked debate, with multiple eyewitnesses offering different versions of what transpired during the October 4-6 tapings at the Alliance Theatre.
Videographer Choke No Joke, who attended two of the three shows, claims Foxx stated that “Diddy was responsible for what happened to him” and that Foxx “is the one who called the FBI” on Combs. According to Choke No Joke, these statements did not appear to be delivered as jokes.
However, another attendee, Dennis L.A. White, who was present at the second and third tapings, recalls a different version. White says Foxx stated,
“People keep asking me if Diddy was responsible. He was not responsible. If he was, I would’ve been dead.”
Celebrity security guard Big Homie .CC added to the controversy when he told Cam Capone News that Foxx was “poisoned” by Diddy. He based these claims on his attendance at two of the comedy show tapings.
The timeline of events shows that Foxx was hospitalized in April 2023 for what his daughter Corinne described as a “medical complication.” The specific nature of his illness remained private, though Foxx later described it as a “hellish” experience.
In July 2023, Foxx addressed his health scare in an Instagram video, denying rumors that he was blind or paralyzed. He revealed that he “went through something I thought I would never, ever go through” but did not provide specific details about his condition.
Further details emerged when Foxx was recorded in Phoenix describing the onset of his medical emergency. He mentioned getting a “bad headache” on April 11, 2023, asking for Advil, and then being “gone for 20 days.”
The controversy has gained renewed attention due to Diddy’s current legal troubles. The 54-year-old music mogul is being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, facing charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Federal agents reportedly found over 1,000 bottles of lubricant, various narcotics, and three AR-15s during raids of Diddy’s Los Angeles and Miami mansions in March. Prosecutors allege that Combs operated a criminal enterprise that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, and other crimes.
The indictment details allegations about “Freak Offs” – drug-fueled sex gatherings allegedly facilitated by Combs and his associates. Prosecutors claim Combs subjected victims to physical, emotional, and verbal abuse during these events.
Following his comedy special tapings, Foxx posted on Instagram, describing the shows as “an artistic explanation of something that went terribly wrong.” He specifically thanked Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, where he received treatment.
It remains unclear whether Foxx’s comments about Diddy will be included in the final cut of the Netflix special. Representatives for Foxx, Combs, and Netflix have not responded to requests for comment.
Combs faces a minimum of 15 years in prison if convicted of the charges against him, with his trial set for May 5, 2025. He continues to maintain his innocence while facing multiple lawsuits alleging similar behavior.
