Morgan Stanley (MS) stock experienced a 1.60% decline, closing at $211.13 following morning trading weakness before partially rebounding. Simultaneously, Morgan Stanley Investment Management broadened its cryptocurrency investment portfolio by introducing fresh spot Ethereum and Solana exchange-traded vehicles. These product debuts present the industry’s most competitive fee structures for spot Ethereum and Solana funds while incorporating staking yield opportunities for both assets.
Morgan Stanley debuts spot Ethereum ETF featuring staking capabilities
Morgan Stanley Investment Management unveiled the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust, trading under ticker symbol MSSE on NYSE Arca. This exchange-traded vehicle provides exposure to ether via the CoinDesk Ether Benchmark 4PM NY Settlement Rate. Moreover, the fund implements a 0.14% annual expense ratio, positioning it below rival spot Ethereum investment vehicles.
This Ethereum offering broadens Morgan Stanley’s cryptocurrency product range beyond its previously launched Bitcoin Trust. The financial institution rolled out its Bitcoin exchange-traded vehicle earlier during the current year through its investment management arm. That particular product garnered over $381 million in managed assets by July 16, 2026.
Morgan Stanley structured the Ethereum fund to produce supplementary income via staking mechanisms. The investment vehicle plans to stake portions of its ether reserves while preserving benchmark exposure. Additionally, Morgan Stanley announced it will transfer all staking proceeds directly to fund participants without retention.
Morgan Stanley rolls out Solana ETF with industry-leading pricing
Morgan Stanley simultaneously introduced the Morgan Stanley Solana Trust, listed under ticker MSOL on NYSE Arca. This fund provides SOL exposure through the CoinDesk Solana Benchmark 4PM NY Settlement Rate. Mirroring the Ethereum vehicle, the Solana fund implements a 0.14% annual expense ratio.
This management fee positions the Solana vehicle below Franklin Templeton’s Solana ETF, which imposes a 0.19% charge. Similarly, the Ethereum vehicle underprices Grayscale’s Mini Ethereum Trust, which maintains a 0.15% expense ratio. This competitive fee approach reinforces Morgan Stanley’s competitive positioning within the growing cryptocurrency exchange-traded product sector.
The Solana fund similarly incorporates staking functionality for portions of its SOL reserves to generate supplementary yields. Morgan Stanley verified that complete staking proceeds will benefit the product framework. Consequently, the institution seeks to deliver authentic blockchain engagement without diminishing returns via sponsor deductions.
Cryptocurrency product suite expands alongside ETF platform growth
These dual product introductions elevate Morgan Stanley’s cryptocurrency exchange-traded product collection to three distinct funds. The portfolio currently encompasses vehicles tracking bitcoin, ether, and SOL. Collectively, these digital assets constitute three of the most valuable cryptocurrencies measured by market capitalization.
Morgan Stanley Investment Management established its ETF infrastructure during 2023 and diversified it throughout multiple investment categories. The infrastructure currently supervises over $14 billion distributed among 22 exchange-traded funds and products. The collection encompasses Calvert ETFs, Parametric ETFs, Eaton Vance fixed income ETFs, alongside cryptocurrency asset products.
This expansion demonstrates ongoing advancement in regulated cryptocurrency investment vehicles among traditional financial institutions. Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas observed that Morgan Stanley’s spot Bitcoin vehicle captured approximately $400 million throughout four months despite debuting during challenging market circumstances. The Ethereum and Solana introductions leverage that momentum while extending the firm’s regulated cryptocurrency investment spectrum.
