Tuesday proved eventful for IonQ. The quantum computing firm unveiled an enhanced revenue forecast, finalized a significant security partnership, and released notable Bitcoin encryption research during a single trading session.
IONQ shares gained 6.06% to reach $41.91 during premarket hours.
The company’s revised 2026 full-year revenue projection now stands at $450 million to $460 million. This updated range incorporates SkyWater’s financial contribution spanning July 31 through year-end, following the acquisition’s closure.
The new forecast excludes anticipated intercompany revenue stemming from a commercial arrangement that existed between the two companies prior to the deal’s completion.
Chairman and CEO Niccolo de Masi stated the revised guidance “demonstrates both the strong market adoption of our quantum platform and the fundamental manufacturing capabilities brought by SkyWater.” The company held its inaugural combined Investor Day presentation at 12:30 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.
According to IonQ, the company is creating a unified technology roadmap alongside SkyWater. Management anticipates this combination will expedite progress toward achieving commercial-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing capabilities.
Congruity360 Partnership Worth $8.18M
In a separate announcement, IonQ revealed an $8.18 million partnership with Congruity360 to implement quantum-resistant network technology for corporate customers.
Under the agreement, IonQ will provide its Clavis quantum key distribution pairs alongside Solteris Network Appliances. Congruity360 plans to incorporate this technology into its data management infrastructure, supporting customers across finance, healthcare, insurance, legal services, manufacturing, defense, and academic institutions.
This partnership arrives after a June 2026 White House executive directive that shifted federal post-quantum security timelines to 2030 while expanding those mandates to include contractors.
IonQ characterizes this as among the most substantial commercial quantum security contracts disclosed in the United States. The firm has previously implemented quantum-secure networks through partnerships with Florida LambdaRail and Cisco in Switzerland.
Bitcoin Encryption Research Draws Interest
IonQ simultaneously released a technical framework demonstrating how a fault-tolerant quantum computing system could theoretically breach secp256k1, the elliptic curve cryptography underlying Bitcoin.
The projection: approximately 20,000 physical qubits could accomplish this task in roughly 26 days. IonQ emphasized this represents a resource analysis rather than an actual working demonstration.
According to the company, the necessary hardware specifications correspond with systems projected on its development timeline around 2028.
From a technical analysis perspective, IONQ is currently trading 0.4% above its 20-day simple moving average and 2.4% above its 50-day SMA. Conversely, the stock trades 11.7% below its 100-day SMA and 4.5% beneath its 200-day SMA. The relative strength index stands at 46.31, indicating neutral momentum conditions.
Primary resistance appears at $48, aligned with the 100-day SMA. Critical support exists around the $40 level.
Eleven Wall Street analysts maintain a consensus Buy recommendation on IonQ. The average price target stands at $70, with projections spanning from $50 to $100. Benchmark reiterated its Buy rating with a $60 target, Needham maintained its Buy rating at $65, and Cantor Fitzgerald kept its Overweight rating with a $70 price target.
