- Multicoin Capital withdrew 1.96 million HYPE tokens (~$120M) from staking via three separate wallets, weeks after issuing a $319 price forecast.
- Selini Capital pulled approximately 504,000 HYPE (~$31M) from staking, contributing to market uncertainty.
- HYPE spot ETFs experienced net withdrawals on several occasions in July, including a peak outflow of 90,580 HYPE on July 17.
- Technical analysis indicates support around $54–$55, with a breach potentially targeting $48 and a hold enabling recovery toward $63–$67.
Hyperliquid (HYPE) has experienced notable downward momentum throughout the current week, retreating from approximately $70 to its current level near $58. The digital asset has contracted by around 15% in the past seven days, including a 7% decline within the most recent 24-hour period.

Even with this recent correction, HYPE maintains a robust 129% gain year-to-date in 2026, positioning it among the stronger performers in the cryptocurrency sector this year.
The current selloff has been primarily linked to significant unstaking activities from well-known cryptocurrency investment entities. Blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain identified that Multicoin Capital moved nearly 400,000 HYPE tokens to Coinbase Prime and initiated unstaking requests for another 212,000 tokens.
Additional blockchain records reveal that Multicoin withdrew a combined 1.96 million HYPE from staking positions distributed across three different wallets, representing roughly $120 million in total value. These holdings had remained staked for close to two months prior to withdrawal.
The sequence of events sparked discussion within the digital asset community. Approximately one month before initiating the unstaking process, Multicoin released an optimistic analysis on HYPE projecting a long-term valuation of $319. Blockchain records indicate Multicoin’s initial HYPE purchases occurred around the $30 mark, suggesting a complete liquidation at present valuations would generate approximately $18.5 million in unrealized gains.
Selini Capital Withdraws Significant Staking Position
Selini Capital similarly withdrew roughly 504,000 HYPE tokens from staking, representing around $31 million in value. Combined, these two institutional players account for more than $150 million in recently unstaked HYPE tokens.
While unstaking doesn’t necessarily indicate immediate liquidation, it does enable unrestricted token movement, and transferring assets to centralized exchanges such as Coinbase is commonly interpreted as a preliminary step toward selling.
Cryptocurrency research platform Coin Bureau highlighted on X that Hyperliquid’s open interest surged to a 2026 peak of $11.5 billion — representing its highest mark since the “10/10 crash” event. This development suggests sustained trading volume despite declining spot valuations.
Institutional Demand Softens with ETF Withdrawals
Signs of cooling institutional appetite have also emerged. Spot HYPE ETFs registered a net withdrawal of 11,210 HYPE on July 21. The month’s most substantial single-day redemption occurred on July 17, when participants pulled 90,580 HYPE from fund holdings.
From a technical perspective, HYPE has breached the lower boundary of a symmetrical triangle formation that had constrained price action for multiple weeks. The Relative Strength Index has descended to 40, while the Chaikin Money Flow indicator has shifted negative, both signaling diminished buying momentum.

Critical support is established within the $54 to $55 range. Should buyers successfully protect this level, market observers anticipate a potential rebound toward $63, followed by $67–$70. Conversely, a sustained close beneath this zone could trigger further downside toward $48.
Current market data places HYPE at $58, with market participants closely monitoring the $54–$55 support threshold throughout upcoming trading sessions.
