On August 29, Ethereum declined to $2,436 as the wider cryptocurrency market experienced a 1.71% downturn in a 24-hour span, bringing the aggregate crypto market capitalization to $2.62 trillion. Bitcoin hovered under $78,000 while XRP remained steady near $1.38.

The recent price decline comes despite ETH’s substantial recovery from approximately $1,900 levels observed in mid-August. The cryptocurrency surged beyond $2,200 and repeatedly challenged the $2,500 threshold before experiencing a retracement.
On August 28, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs registered $102.18 million in net inflows, extending a remarkable 10-day streak of consistent positive fund flows. The cumulative inflows throughout this period reached approximately $1.52 billion.
The week concluding around August 21 witnessed roughly $697 million flowing into Ethereum ETF products ā representing the most robust weekly performance in approximately 10 months and establishing a 2026 peak at that time, according to SoSoValue data.
BlackRock’s ETHA Captures Lion’s Share of ETF Capital
BlackRock’s ETHA attracted approximately $1.02 billion throughout nine consecutive trading sessions spanning August 17 to August 27, representing roughly 72% of total U.S. spot Ethereum ETF inflows during this timeframe.
The most impressive single-day performance occurred on August 27, recording $225.8 million in inflows ā the largest daily figure registered since October 28, 2025. ETHA’s total net inflows since launching in July 2024 now approach $12.74 billion, with net assets hovering around $8.46 billion.
The approximately 385,633 ETH accumulated during this eight-day window suggests an average acquisition cost ranging between $2,490 and $2,550. This figure remains considerably below ETHA’s lifetime average cost basis of roughly $3,060.
It’s important to note that spot ETF flows represent client-initiated transactions rather than proprietary BlackRock investments. When investors purchase ETHA shares, the fund procures Ethereum through Coinbase Prime to maintain appropriate backing.
On August 28, Fidelity’s FETH stood as the sole fund experiencing outflows, shedding $24.26 million. Grayscale, Bitwise, VanEck, and Franklin offerings reported zero movement in daily flows.

Market analyst Ash Crypto observed on X that the ETH/BTC pair is developing a triangle formation with a narrowing trading range. According to his analysis, a successful breakout above the trendline could propel ETH toward $2,800, whereas a rejection might drive it back to the $2,000ā$2,200 zone.
Trading analyst Michaƫl van de Poppe (@CryptoMichNL) shared his perspective that should ETH validate a genuine breakout, he anticipates the subsequent rally could target $3,200, with potential extension to $3,500.
The CLARITY Act, having already cleared the House, now awaits a Senate cloture vote scheduled for September 15, requiring 60 affirmative votes to proceed.
