Dogecoin (DOGE) posted a sharp 10% increase over the past 24 hours, hovering near $0.078 as of this writing. This upward movement coincided with a significant memecoin sector rally that saw PEPE jump 19% and Shiba Inu advance 10%.

The combined memecoin market capitalization expanded by more than 5.37%, while trading volume skyrocketed 189% to approximately $4.14 billion. Dogecoin dominated activity levels, recording roughly $1.28 billion in daily volume — representing over half its entire weekly volume condensed into a single session.

A significant catalyst for this movement was the U.S. Treasury’s announcement to double its long-term bond buyback program. This action released additional liquidity into financial markets while simultaneously weakening the dollar, providing a tailwind for dollar-denominated crypto assets including DOGE.
The cryptocurrency Fear & Greed Index advanced from 46 to 62, entering solid “Greed” territory. During this same timeframe, Bitcoin surpassed $70,000 while Ethereum climbed beyond $2,200.
In the derivatives market, perpetual futures Open Interest expanded to 17.21 billion DOGE, rising from 16.87 billion recorded the previous day. Funding rates have maintained positive territory since August 5, indicating that bullish traders continue paying premiums to maintain long positions.
Payment Network Integration Provides Additional Support
DOGE recently secured integration with the Paxos payment network, which serves as the underlying infrastructure for PayPal and Venmo. This development could significantly expand Dogecoin’s accessibility to the millions of active users on these mainstream payment platforms.
However, despite the positive price movement, DOGE Spot ETFs have recorded zero inflows following a net outflow of $564,000 on August 13. Institutional engagement remains minimal at this stage.
Market analyst chad (@chad_ventures) highlighted on X that each rebound during the ongoing downtrend — which initiated with a “South Star” signal at $0.185 — faced rejection at the resistance band. He observed that a fresh “Meridian North Star” has appeared, emphasizing that the critical question is whether price action can penetrate and sustain levels above that resistance band. According to his analysis, this level will ultimately determine if we’re witnessing a genuine trend reversal.
Technical Analysis Overview
From a technical perspective, DOGE successfully breached a significant trendline that had contained price action since May and cleared a 4-hour resistance trendline. The daily Relative Strength Index registers at 69, approaching overbought territory. The MACD histogram continues displaying positive momentum.
Immediate resistance stands at the 100-day Exponential Moving Average positioned at $0.080. On the downside, the 50-day EMA at $0.074 combined with SuperTrend support at $0.069 establish a demand zone.
The next significant supply zone above current price levels remains intact. DOGE’s ability to convert that resistance level into sustainable support will ultimately dictate the durability of this bullish move.
