CoinShares has unveiled a UCITS platform designed to capture opportunities within Europe’s institutional investment landscape. The company simultaneously rolled out a Bitcoin mining ETF as the platform’s debut offering. This strategic initiative focuses on serving pension funds, insurance firms, and private banking clients throughout European markets.
Platform Enables Expanded Digital Asset Fund Lineup
CoinShares explained that numerous institutional investors face mandate restrictions preventing them from holding debt securities. These limitations extend to physically backed digital asset investment products as well. The UCITS framework offers an alternative fund vehicle that meets regulatory requirements.
UCITS-compliant funds enjoy cross-border distribution rights throughout the European Union under harmonized regulations. A wide range of institutional investors already include these fund types within their approved investment guidelines. This regulatory acceptance opens substantially larger pools of institutional capital to CoinShares.
The platform architecture relies on a primarily fixed cost infrastructure. Company leadership anticipates this design will generate meaningful operating leverage as assets grow. CoinShares has outlined plans to introduce multiple additional funds covering digital assets and thematic investment strategies.
The Bitcoin Mining UCITS ETF commenced trading Tuesday on Deutsche Börse Xetra. The fund delivers investment exposure to enterprises engaged in Bitcoin mining operations. This vehicle represents the first product to list through the new platform infrastructure.
Jean-Marie Mognetti characterized the initiative as a strategic market entry rather than simply adding another product. “It marks our entry into the UCITS market,” he stated. He emphasized the framework’s established reputation within regulated fund marketplaces.
CoinShares engineered the platform specifically to enable efficient deployment of subsequent fund launches. This infrastructure minimizes requirements for substantial incremental operating expenditures. Future product launches may address various digital asset categories and associated investment themes.
UCITS Platform Launch Follows Strong Revenue Performance
CoinShares disclosed revenue exceeding $165.7 million for 2025. The financial results appeared in the company’s inaugural annual report following its United States market listing. CoinShares finalized its Nasdaq market listing in April.
Shares trading on Nasdaq settled Monday at $4.11. The stock declined 2.1% during that trading session. Tuesday’s platform announcement proceeded as scheduled despite the share price movement.
CoinShares has now established a presence in UCITS markets with one operational fund. The platform specifically addresses institutional clients requiring regulated, transferable investment vehicles. CoinShares expects to introduce additional European fund products using this same regulatory framework.
