CoinMarketCap has completed its acquisition of Coinglass, a specialized platform for crypto derivatives analytics, according to a Friday announcement. The transaction is already finalized, though neither party revealed the purchase price.
CoinMarketCap has established itself as a primary destination for cryptocurrency price information. The platform reports attracting 115 million monthly visitors who rely on it for pricing intelligence and market statistics.
Coinglass operates in a specialized niche within cryptocurrency markets. The platform concentrates on derivatives analytics including open interest metrics, funding rate fluctuations, liquidation tracking and options market data.
Coinglass’s Value Proposition for CoinMarketCap
Established in 2019, Coinglass has expanded its coverage to include 28 trading platforms and monitors activity across more than 2,500 distinct instruments.
The service attracts over 5 million users each month. Additionally, more than 10,000 API subscribers integrate Coinglass data feeds directly into their proprietary analytics systems.
The company developed specialized visualization tools including liquidation heatmaps and comprehensive open interest monitoring dashboards. These analytical resources have become widely circulated throughout online crypto trading forums.
Derivatives contracts account for the majority of overall trading volume in cryptocurrency markets. Consequently, the information Coinglass compiles reveals where significant market activity and leverage exposure are concentrated.
Through this acquisition, CoinMarketCap subscribers will gain access to derivatives market positioning intelligence alongside the spot price information they currently monitor. This encompasses liquidation cluster analysis and real-time funding rate dynamics.

He emphasized that CoinMarketCap intends to democratize access to this intelligence for a broader user base. He clarified that the company has no plans to alter Coinglass’s operational model.
David Salamon, serving as Chief Product Officer at CoinMarketCap, provided additional context on the deal. He explained that metrics like open interest, funding mechanisms and liquidation patterns reveal actual risk-taking behavior in the marketplace.
Business as Usual for Coinglass Platform
Coinglass has stated it will preserve its existing brand identity. The organization confirmed that its website platform, mobile application, complimentary analytics tools, API services and subscription tiers will remain unchanged.
The existing Coinglass workforce will stay intact after the transaction closes. The company emphasized its commitment to continuing development of the tools its user base depends on regularly.
This transaction represents another chapter in CoinMarketCap’s corporate ownership evolution. Cryptocurrency exchange Binance purchased CoinMarketCap in April 2020.
During that earlier acquisition, Binance committed to preserving CoinMarketCap’s operational independence. The exchange also pledged non-interference with the platform’s cryptocurrency ranking methodology.
CoinMarketCap has not announced whether Coinglass analytics will be embedded within its primary price tracking interface. Currently, both platforms will function as distinct offerings under common ownership.
