TLDR:
- Deutsche Telekom’s T-Systems becomes VMware Cloud Service Provider Pinnacle tier partner
- T-Systems to offer managed private cloud services based on VMware Cloud Foundation
- Partnership allows for White Label services, expanding VMware product availability
- Collaboration aims to accelerate infrastructure modernization and AI adoption
- Partnership builds on a 20-year relationship between T-Systems and VMware (now Broadcom)
Deutsche Telekom’s subsidiary T-Systems and Broadcom have announced an expansion of their long-standing partnership, marking a significant development in the cloud services landscape.
This collaboration elevates T-Systems to the highest tier of Broadcom’s Advantage Partner Program, designating it as a VMware Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) Pinnacle partner.
The enhanced partnership enables T-Systems to offer managed private cloud services globally, including sovereign cloud services, based on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). This platform is designed to help organizations modernize their infrastructure while providing a seamless cloud experience with enterprise-grade security and resilience.
As a Pinnacle Partner, T-Systems gains the ability to support the VCSP White Label model. This allows T-Systems to provide VCSP Registered tier partners with licenses, support, and optional hosting services, which these partners can then offer under their own brand. This expansion of services is expected to make VMware products more widely available in the market.
Ferri Abolhassan, CEO of T-Systems and board member of Deutsche Telekom, emphasized the importance of this partnership in their multi-cloud strategy. He stated that combined with their Hyperscaler solutions, they can now provide customers with tailored solutions on a global scale.
Hock Tan, President and CEO of Broadcom Inc., expressed commitment to continuing close collaboration with T-Systems. The partnership aims to accelerate customers’ infrastructure modernization, AI adoption, and cyber resilience while supporting needs for sovereign cloud services that enable data residency and other jurisdictional controls.
This expanded partnership builds upon a 20-year relationship between T-Systems and VMware, which is now part of Broadcom. T-Systems already offers customers a tool-based migration from any IT infrastructure to VMware technology through its Future Cloud Infrastructure (FCI) service. Additionally, T-Systems has established a VMware Cloud Center of Excellence, streamlining the process for organizations to move to the cloud.
The collaboration is expected to benefit customers by providing access to VMware’s portfolio of cloud infrastructure, application modernization, and security services. It also aims to simplify and accelerate the cloud migration process while potentially reducing costs for organizations.
This partnership expansion comes at a time when cloud services and infrastructure modernization are increasingly critical for businesses across various sectors. The ability to offer managed private cloud services, including sovereign cloud options, addresses growing concerns about data residency and control, particularly in regions with strict regulatory environments.
The White Label option introduced through this partnership could have significant implications for the broader cloud services market. It potentially allows smaller service providers to offer enterprise-grade VMware-based solutions without the need for extensive infrastructure investments or direct partnerships with Broadcom.
For Broadcom, this expanded partnership with T-Systems represents a strategic move to strengthen its position in the European market and globally. It leverages T-Systems’ extensive customer base and reputation in managed IT services to potentially increase the adoption of VMware technologies.
