Bitcoin shattered the $75,000 threshold on Thursday evening in U.S. markets, marking its highest price point since the final days of May. The leading cryptocurrency peaked at an intraday high of $75,591 before stabilizing near $75,400, representing an approximately 8% increase over a single day.

This momentum positions Bitcoin for its most impressive weekly showing in more than 24 months. With a 19% weekly advance, BTC is delivering its most robust seven-day performance since February 2024.
Cryptocurrency analyst James Check highlighted the changing market sentiment as Bitcoin pierced the $75,000 level. “Price pain capitulation in February,” he observed. “Time pain capitulation in June. Bears in pain, right now.” Check’s analysis suggested that sellers have exhausted their pressure following months of bearish sentiment.
The upward movement extended beyond Bitcoin alone. Ether climbed 4.8% to approximately $2,376, while XRP outperformed major cryptocurrencies with a substantial 16% jump to $1.29. Over the full week, Ether has appreciated 25% and XRP has surged 28%.
Presidential Support for Crypto Regulation
One major catalyst fueling the rally was President Donald Trump’s appeal to Congress to advance the Clarity Act during a cryptocurrency summit held at the White House this week. The proposed legislation seeks to create a comprehensive regulatory structure for the American crypto sector.
The Clarity Act remains gridlocked in Congress due to disputes regarding cryptocurrency classification methods and how it handles returns on stablecoins. No definitive schedule for approval has been established.
Bond Repurchase Program Amplifies Momentum
The U.S. Treasury Department contributed to the favorable conditions by revealing plans to expand its bond buyback program substantially. The maximum amount per operation increased from $2 billion to a minimum of $4 billion, effective September 9.
This initiative was designed to enhance liquidity within the long-dated Treasury market and drove yields downward, elevating risk appetite throughout financial markets. Bitcoin has appreciated over 13% following Wednesday’s announcement.
Cryptocurrency trader Daan Crypto Trades shared on X that BTC was “trying to move above the bull market support band and weekly 200EMA.” He continued: “Above the green zone I would be confident that we see a move back to the May highs too. But let’s take it step by step.”
Bitcoin additionally climbed above its 200-day moving average for the first time since November 2025, approximately one month following BTC’s record high exceeding $126,000. Chart analysis platform Barchart identified this technical breakthrough on Thursday.
Standard Chartered analyst Geoff Kendrick suggested the Treasury’s buyback program expansion might propel a Bitcoin advance toward $100,000 before year-end.
BTC was changing hands around $75,400 at press time, having escaped the $60,000ā$70,000 trading corridor that dominated throughout most of 2026.
