The world’s leading cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, has unveiled options trading capabilities for over 1,000 US stocks and exchange-traded funds, targeting qualified users residing outside American borders. This development marks another significant milestone in the platform’s strategy to integrate traditional financial instruments.
Trading operations will flow through Nest Trading Limited, Binance’s licensed broker-dealer entity supervised by the Abu Dhabi Global Market regulatory authority. Nest will function as the introducing broker, channeling trade orders to Alpaca Securities, a United States-registered financial institution responsible for trade execution, clearing processes, settlement procedures, and asset safekeeping.
These options contracts utilize physical settlement mechanisms. This structure ensures that traders exercising their options positions will acquire or transfer the genuine underlying equity shares rather than receiving cash-settled payments.
Individual traders authorized for options activity can purchase both call and put contracts. Risk exposure remains capped at the initial premium amount paid when entering positions. The exchange has indicated plans to progressively expand its stock options inventory in future updates.
Traditional Finance Trading Activity Experiences Dramatic Growth
This options rollout complements Binance’s current equity trading infrastructure, which already encompasses more than 7,000 US-listed stocks and ETFs accessible to international clientele following its June introduction.
Traditional finance perpetual futures trading activity on the platform climbed to $433.4 billion throughout August. This figure represents a substantial jump from January’s $29.5 billion, marking approximately a fifteenfold multiplication since the year’s beginning.
Stock-related perpetual contracts propelled the majority of this expansion. These instruments produced $342.9 billion in trading volume during August alone, surging from merely $410.9 million in January and representing roughly 79% of aggregate TradFi activity.
Bybit is preparing to enter this competitive arena. The platform plans to introduce continuous options on stock perpetuals beginning September 17, initially featuring SpaceX and Nvidia. Distinguishing itself from Binance’s approach, Bybit’s products will employ cash settlement in USDT and link to stock perpetuals instead of actual equity shares.
Industry-Wide Movement Toward Tokenized Securities
The trend extends beyond cryptocurrency exchanges alone. The tokenized equity market has experienced remarkable expansion throughout the previous twelve months.
Tokenized stock products currently represent approximately $2.6 billion in distributed value, escalating from roughly $346 million one year earlier, based on RWA.xyz analytics. Monthly transfer activity surged 93% over the preceding 30-day period to $25.1 billion, while participant numbers increased 157% to approach 2.5 million holders.
Coinbase deployed its tokenized equity offering on the Base blockchain during the previous week, providing qualified international users with continuous access to blockchain-based representations of major stocks such as Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet.
Kraken extended availability to over 7,000 US-listed equities for authorized European clients in August, integrating them with its existing tokenized xStocks product line.
Robinhood unveiled Robinhood Chain in July, accompanied by Stock Tokens accessible to eligible participants across more than 120 nations.
According to Binance, the options expansion aligns with its strategic objective to evolve into a comprehensive multi-asset trading platform, delivering international users access to sophisticated instruments historically confined to conventional brokerage services.
