This week has seen significant portfolio adjustments at Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest, with the firm divesting substantial technology holdings while simultaneously building positions in biotechnology and artificial intelligence semiconductor companies.
The most substantial transaction occurred on Wednesday, when ARK liquidated 37,977 shares of Advanced Micro Devices, representing approximately $18.1 million in value. AMD’s stock price declined 0.9% that session, closing at $476.67.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., AMD
This divestment continues an ongoing pattern. Wood’s investment firm has been systematically reducing its AMD holdings in recent months, despite the semiconductor stock’s impressive performance with gains exceeding 100% year-to-date.
As a strategic replacement for that semiconductor exposure, ARK purchased 57,705 shares of Broadcom alongside 69,585 shares of Cerebras Systems during the same trading session. Broadcom’s stock appreciated 4.5% to close at $371.54, while Cerebras advanced 2.5% to $186.67.
Notably, even after these transactions, ARK maintains a larger position in AMD compared to either of these newer semiconductor investments. The prominent ARK Innovation ETF currently holds $193.3 million worth of AMD, contrasted with $149.5 million in Cerebras and $95.3 million in Broadcom.
Tempus AI Position Reduced Following Consecutive Days of Selling
Thursday brought another significant divestment as ARK sold 59,276 shares of Tempus AI through the ARKK ETF, representing just over $4 million in value. This transaction extends a series of Tempus AI reductions that began earlier in the week.
The firm simultaneously liquidated 22,225 shares of Twist Bioscience distributed across ARKK and ARKG ETFs, generating $3.3 million in proceeds. This represents another recurring pattern observed throughout the week.
Additional minor position reductions encompassed 1,001 Roblox shares valued at $37,597 and 29,385 Brera Holdings shares totaling $116,658.
Capital Flows Toward Biotechnology Sector
Regarding acquisitions, ARK accumulated 47,793 Veracyte shares for $2.1 million, distributed between the ARKK and ARKG funds. This activity signals increasing confidence in the cancer diagnostics specialist.
The investment firm also purchased 5,085 Scribe Therapeutics shares through the ARKG ETF for $161,194, maintaining a consistent approach to biotechnology investments.
These portfolio adjustments demonstrate ARK’s strategic reallocation from select technology positions toward genomics and biotechnologyāsectors that have historically represented core components of Wood’s investment philosophy.
Wood established ARK’s market presence through concentrated investments in sectors including genomics, robotics, and artificial intelligence, notably featuring an early Tesla position. Nevertheless, the flagship ARKK fund has registered an annualized decline of approximately 9% throughout the preceding five-year period.
The current trading activity indicates Wood is executing another strategic repositioning, reducing exposure to AMD and Tempus AI while expanding allocations to Broadcom, Cerebras, and Veracyte.
Thursday’s session concluded with ARK’s ARKK ETF gaining 1.87% and the ARKG ETF advancing 0.85%.
