Shares of Apple experienced a slight decline to approximately $319 on Tuesday, as investors prepare for the company’s highly anticipated “Surprise and Shine” presentation scheduled for September 9 at its Cupertino, California headquarters in Apple Park.
This event has drawn significant attention from investors and industry observers alike. It represents the inaugural major product announcement under newly appointed CEO John Ternus, who assumed leadership on September 1. Former CEO Tim Cook has transitioned to the position of executive chairman.
The upcoming announcement is positioned to become one of Apple’s most significant product reveals in recent memory.
Bank of America Securities has maintained its Buy recommendation for Apple, setting a price objective of $380. The stock is presently valued at $320, reflecting a market capitalization of $4.67 trillion and a price-to-earnings multiple of 36.92.
BofA anticipates that Apple will introduce three new smartphone models: the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and a first-generation foldable device that may be branded as the iPhone Ultra or Fold. The Pro variants are projected to maintain their 6.3 and 6.9 inch screen dimensions and operate on the advanced 2nm A20 Pro processor.
The foldable iPhone Ultra is projected to showcase a book-fold configuration featuring a 5.5 inch external OLED screen and a 7.8 inch internal display panel, equipped with 12GB of RAM and storage capacity reaching 2TB. Citi analysts estimate the entry price point will surpass $2,000. All three devices are anticipated to launch with iOS 27.
Reports suggest Apple may forgo releasing a standard base iPhone model in this cycle, focusing instead on premium offerings to enhance profit margins.
KeyBanc Highlights Pricing Concerns
KeyBanc analyst Brandon Nispel maintained his Sell recommendation on September 4, establishing a $250 price target that suggests approximately 24% downside from current trading levels. His analysis indicates that pricing increases will either negatively impact unit volumes or create challenges for future margin management.
Nispel characterized the upcoming event as “a likely negative catalyst” for the stock, irrespective of how Apple approaches its pricing structure.
DA Davidson analyst Gil Luria maintained a cautious stance, preserving a Hold rating with a $270 price objective. He highlighted concerns about potential revenue contraction in the coming year if the foldable iPhone and comprehensive price adjustments fail to resonate with consumers.
Guidance Shows Conservative Outlook
Apple’s financial positioning entering the event reflects certain pressures. In July, the company projected Q4 revenue in the range of $111.7 billion to $113.7 billion, falling short of the Street consensus estimate of $114.95 billion. This shortfall was attributed to elevated memory costs resulting from component supply constraints.
App Store revenue for Q4 fiscal 2026 reached $6.3 billion, though growth measured only 0.1% compared to the prior year. Evercore ISI additionally observed a 1% year-over-year decrease in App Store revenues during August.
BofA analysts interpret App Store metrics as generally favorable. DA Davidson pointed to Apple’s enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities as grounds for cautious optimism surrounding the foldable device launch.
Beyond the iPhone lineup, Apple is expected to reveal Apple Watch Series 12, Ultra 4, AirPods 5, a refreshed Apple TV 4K, and an updated HomePod mini.
According to Wall Street coverage, 31 analysts collectively assign AAPL a Moderate Buy rating, comprising 16 Buy recommendations, 11 Hold ratings, and four Sell ratings. The consensus price target stands at $337.55.
