Pi Network announced the availability of Pi Desktop 0.6.3, delivering significant enhancements to SoloHost, the platform’s self-hosted application infrastructure. This release accompanies a branding shift, with all subsequent software iterations adopting the Pi Desktop designation rather than Pi Node.
The latest version brings fresh capabilities for both users and developers while broadening compatibility for locally-hosted applications. Pi Network actively explores how its desktop platform can facilitate blockchain operations, artificial intelligence workflows, and distributed processing tasks.
Enhanced App Discovery Through Activity-Based Rankings
SoloHost introduces a ranking mechanism that organizes community applications according to their active user base. This modification provides users with immediate insight into which applications currently demonstrate the highest engagement throughout the network.
Developers benefit from a newly created “My Apps” dashboard designed for streamlined management of published applications. The Core Team recently executed a distributed-computing pilot program via SoloHost. Five volunteer Node operators accepted computational assignments, executed them on their hardware, and transmitted completed tasks back to the network.
Pi Network aims to enable third-party applications to leverage unused processing capacity from over 420,000 registered Node operators. Contributing users may eventually earn Pi tokens as compensation for shared resources.
