At VMware Explore 2026 in Las Vegas this Monday, Broadcom unveiled a series of major announcements focused on private cloud AI infrastructure and the governance of AI agents.
The centerpiece reveal was VMware AI Factory, serving as the software-defined foundation for VMware Private AI Cloud. This platform enables companies to execute AI workloads using their internal infrastructure, avoiding dependence on external public cloud services.
Shares of AVGO declined 0.08% on Monday following the announcement.
The value proposition centers on deployment velocity and budget management. According to Broadcom, VMware AI Factory can transform a physical server from bare metal status to actively processing AI models within hours instead of the traditional weeks-long timeline. For enterprise IT departments overseeing extensive deployments, this represents a substantial efficiency gain.
The solution aggregates GPU computing power across different teams, enabling organizations to utilize shared hardware rather than provisioning isolated infrastructure for individual workloads. Broadcom positions this capability as a method to maintain cost discipline while enhancing what the company describes as “AI tokenomics.”
Extensive Compatibility Across Hardware and Models
VMware AI Factory integrates with graphics processors from both Nvidia and AMD. Regarding AMD compatibility, Broadcom verified integration with AMD Instinct MI350 Series GPUs combined with AMD’s open-source ROCm software platform. AMD corporate vice president Suresh Andani highlighted that this configuration delivers “predictable economics and no per-token pricing” for customers.
Validated server manufacturers include Cisco, Dell Technologies, Lenovo, and Supermicro. The platform accommodates over 150 AI models such as Nemotron 3, Gemma 4, Qwen 3.7-Max, and GLM 5.2.
Additionally, Broadcom revealed a strategic collaboration with MetalSoft focused on bare metal automation, streamlining physical server provisioning from weeks down to minutes via the VCF management interface.
Enhanced private AI capabilities incorporate multi-tenant model distribution through isolated namespaces, an AI Gateway providing centralized model oversight across on-premises and cloud environments, and protected AI sandboxes that contain agent-generated code execution.
Enterprise Focus Shifts to AI Agent Management
A significant portion of the conference addressed AI agent governance, an increasingly critical consideration for organizations operating agentic workflows.
Broadcom launched AgentMinder, offering chain-of-custody oversight between developers and multiple AI agents. Broadcom CIO Alan Davidson noted the system manages more than 20 million customer identities and 72,000 workforce identities while maintaining continuous uptime.
VMware vDefend alongside VMware Avi Load Balancer were revealed as components of the agent security framework. According to Broadcom, organizations can now implement protective guardrails and secure AI deployments using what the company characterizes as “defense-in-depth security.”
Broadcom referenced proprietary research indicating 56% of enterprise businesses are currently operating or preparing to operate production AI on private cloud platforms, which the company presents as validation for this strategic direction.
Third-quarter financial results will be released after market hours on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Analyst consensus anticipates adjusted earnings per share of $3.24 with revenue reaching $29.43B. These figures represent substantial growth compared to adjusted EPS of $1.69 and revenue of $15.95B during the equivalent quarter in the prior year.
