Advanced Micro Devices delivered impressive gains on Friday, rallying 6.19% to settle at $512.93, propelled by two significant developments that emerged nearly simultaneously.
The semiconductor manufacturer successfully completed a historic $4.75 billion bond offering, representing the company’s most substantial investment-grade debt issuance on record. Structured across four separate tranches, the offering attracted robust participation from institutional buyers, allowing AMD to price its longest-maturity bonds beneath initial projections. This outcome reflects growing investor optimism regarding the company’s strategic trajectory.
The capital raised will primarily support AMD’s artificial intelligence hardware expansion initiatives and substantial capital expenditure programs.
Bank of America Elevates CPU Market Expectations
Vivek Arya, an analyst at Bank of America, increased the firm’s server-CPU market projection for 2030 from approximately $170 billion to surpassing $210 billion. AMD received top-pick status within the semiconductor sector.
Arya’s investment rationale focuses on “agentic AI,” which he believes is transforming data center infrastructure toward more balanced CPU-to-GPU configurations. This represents a departure from the GPU-centric deployments that prevailed in recent periods, positioning AMD favorably due to its superior clock speeds and elevated core configurations.
The analyst highlighted both cloud infrastructure and enterprise server segments as key expansion opportunities for AMD moving ahead.
Artificial Intelligence Partnerships and Product Pipeline
AMD’s Technology Leadership Forum further boosted investor sentiment. Company executives provided guidance indicating server revenue expansion exceeding 80% in the second half of 2026 and no less than 70% throughout 2027. The company’s comprehensive AI data center operations are anticipated to expand over 100% in the coming year.
Regarding product developments, AMD plans to commence deliveries of its Helios AI racks in September. Major technology companies including Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic have executed multi-gigawatt computing agreements. Anthropic independently secured capacity for up to 2 GW utilizing MI450-series processors.
Additionally, AMD revealed Day 0 compatibility for the Qwen3.8 27B AI model throughout its Ryzen AI Max+ platforms and Radeon AI PRO equipment, a strategic initiative designed to strengthen its position among AI development communities.
