Shares of SpaceX (SPCX) gained 1% in premarket activity Wednesday, reaching $134.65 as the stock rebounded from Tuesday’s 3.9% decline that brought it to $133.29. The company’s shares initially debuted at $135 when public trading commenced on June 12.

The early morning uptick came on the heels of Tuesday evening’s successful mission, which saw SpaceX deploy 24 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit from California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base. This marked the firm’s 51st orbital mission launched from the West Coast during the current year.
The Starlink division continues to serve as SpaceX’s primary revenue driver, generating nearly 70% of overall income. During the second quarter of 2026, the satellite internet service produced $4.29 billion in revenue.
Strong Q2 Performance Exceeds Analyst Projections
In its second-quarter financial report, SpaceX delivered total revenue of $7.81 billion, marking a substantial 91.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The company recorded a per-share loss of $0.09, significantly outperforming analyst expectations of a $0.26 lossābeating projections by $0.17.
The quarter saw significant capital expenditures totaling $15.8 billion, allocated primarily toward expanding orbital data infrastructure and advancing AI capabilities. Both the AI compute segment and Starship hardware operations registered operating losses during the period.
While revenue figures impressed, SPCX stock has experienced considerable volatility since reaching its peak of $201.80 on June 16. The shares had declined over 30% from that high leading up to the initial insider lockup expiration, though the anticipated selloff failed to materialize.
August Lockup Expiration Creates Investor Uncertainty
Market participants are closely monitoring the upcoming lockup period conclusion on Aug. 20, with shares becoming eligible for trading on Aug. 21. This event could potentially release approximately $42.5 billion in stock value, prompting investors to reposition their holdings in anticipation.
CEO Elon Musk recently stated that SpaceX’s artificial intelligence revenue will “definitely” surpass all other revenue streams next month. Morgan Stanley has maintained its base price target of $300 with a bullish scenario of $600, emphasizing the company’s AI growth potential.
During Q2, Hyperion Asset Management acquired 1,177,203 SPCX shares worth approximately $201.1 million. This position represents 5.3% of the fund’s total portfolio, making it their eighth-largest holding.
Additional institutional investors established new positions during the second quarter, including Dynamic Advisor Solutions with a $3.38 million stake and KERR Financial Planning with a $566,000 investment.
Wall Street analysts maintain generally favorable views on the stock. The consensus rating stands at “Moderate Buy” with a collective price target of $229. However, recent downgrades include Raymond James shifting from strong buy to strong sell last Friday, while Seaport Research Partners moved from buy to neutral on the same day.
Argus Research raised its rating from hold to buy on Aug. 7, establishing a $160 price objective. Meanwhile, Daiwa Securities initiated coverage in July with a neutral stance and a $175 target price.
Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global recently revealed a position in SpaceX, joining the expanding roster of institutional stakeholders.
Technical indicators show the stock’s 50-day moving average positioned at $143.01. The 52-week trading range extends from a low of $104.83 to a high of $225.64.
