Grayscale has submitted a fourth revision to its Form S-3 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, seeking approval for a Zcash spot exchange-traded fund. The proposed fund is slated for listing on NYSE Arca with the ticker symbol ZCSH, representing a conversion of the current Grayscale Zcash Trust into a publicly accessible investment vehicle.
According to the regulatory filing, DCG International Investments Ltd., a fully owned indirect subsidiary under Digital Currency Group’s umbrella, has initiated preliminary negotiations to purchase roughly 200,000 ZEC tokens via the trust structure. Based on prevailing market rates, this acquisition would represent an investment of approximately $110 million. The discussions remain non-binding at this stage, indicating the transaction could potentially be restructured or abandoned.
Details regarding management fees or potential fee waivers for the investment product have not been disclosed by Grayscale. Similarly, no official launch date has been established.
ETF Structure and Mechanics
The proposed exchange-traded fund would facilitate share creation and redemption processes predominantly through cash-based transactions. While in-kind creation mechanisms would remain available, the revised framework explicitly prohibits in-kind redemption options.
This initiative represents another component of Grayscale’s expanding strategy to introduce alternative cryptocurrency investment vehicles. The asset manager has recently submitted applications for exchange-traded funds focused on Avalanche, Hyperliquid, and Worldcoin.
The fourth revision also acknowledges the June Orchard security vulnerability, a technical defect that impacted Zcash’s privacy-focused shielded transaction mechanism. The network’s Ironwood protocol enhancement subsequently deactivated the affected pool and implemented safeguards to prevent fraudulent ZEC token generation.
Price Performance and Market Metrics
ZEC experienced an increase of nearly 10% during the preceding 24-hour window, with trading activity concentrated around the $555 mark. Earlier session data indicated a 24-hour trading range spanning from $500.47 to $514.03, before prices accelerated upward later in the period.

Transaction volume for ZCSH in its existing private trust configuration has experienced a substantial downturn since reaching a high point exceeding $23 million in November 2025. The investment vehicle has failed to surpass $5 million in trading volume since June 2026.
Outstanding positions in ZEC derivatives contracts increased by 1% to reach $928.22 billion over the past day, based on CoinGlass data. Binance recorded a 3.90% decline in futures open interest, contrasting with Hyperliquid’s 9% expansion. Meanwhile, OKX and KuCoin registered increases of 3.40% and 2.18% respectively.
Market observers have identified $520 as an immediate resistance threshold following the Ironwood protocol enhancement, with $550 representing a more significant resistance barrier beyond that point.
Current market data shows ZEC trading in proximity to the $555 level.
