Broadcom experienced a particularly eventful period recently. With a new chip product line, achieving a $2 trillion valuation milestone, and technology giants amplifying their AI infrastructure investments, activity surrounding AVGO intensified significantly.
On the final day of April, Broadcom revealed three innovative chipsets targeting residential broadband gateway equipment: the BCM68565 gateway system-on-chip alongside two dual-band Wi-Fi 8 radio components designated BCM67142 and BCM67192. These semiconductor solutions merge 10G PON fiber optic connectivity with cutting-edge Wi-Fi 8 capabilities.
The BCM68565 chipset provides compatibility with XGSPON, GPON, and Active Ethernet fiber transmission standards. Its architecture incorporates a CPU subsystem featuring open source middleware compatibility, a specialized network processing unit, and support across DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR4, and LPDDR5 memory configurations.
Both radio components consolidate 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz frequency bands within unified chip packages. Broadcom reports that the third-generation digital pre-distortion technology integrated into these components reduces maximum power consumption by 25%. This consolidated architecture targets reductions in component expenses while streamlining circuit board designs.
This release represents the company’s fourth successive Wi-Fi 8 product introduction. The semiconductor solutions are presently available for sampling among select early-access partners. Neither pricing details nor widespread commercial launch timelines were disclosed.
AVGO Achieves $2 Trillion Milestone
During trading on April 22, AVGO momentarily achieved a $2 trillion market capitalization, with share prices approaching the $422 level. This upward movement stemmed from expanding AI collaborations, including an extended partnership with Google extending through 2031 and an Anthropic partnership anticipated to enable approximately 3.5 gigawatts of computational infrastructure starting in 2027.
The company’s first-quarter financial performance provided substantial momentum for market confidence. Total revenue climbed 29% year-over-year to $19.31 billion. Semiconductor division revenue reached $12.5 billion, representing 52% growth, while AI semiconductor revenue skyrocketed 106% to $8.4 billion.
Looking toward the second quarter, Broadcom projects semiconductor revenue of $14.8 billion, reflecting 76% annual growth. AI chip revenue is anticipated at $10.7 billion, which translates to 140% expansion.
The semiconductor manufacturer currently collaborates with six prominent AI technology firms on extended, multi-gigawatt infrastructure deployment strategies. Broadcom has established an objective of producing over $100 billion in AI chip revenue before 2027 concludes.
First-quarter free cash flow totaled $8 billion, representing 41% of overall revenue. The corporation distributed $10.9 billion to shareholders during the quarter via dividend payments and share repurchase programs.
Technology Giant Spending Provides Additional Support
Broadcom received further validation from Big Tech earnings announcements. Meta elevated its 2025 capital spending projection by $10 billion to a bandwidth spanning $125 billion to $145 billion. Microsoft and Alphabet similarly increased their infrastructure investment forecasts.
Meta maintains semiconductor procurement contracts with Broadcom, Nvidia, and AMD. These elevated expenditure commitments from hyperscale cloud providers helped mitigate apprehensions triggered earlier that week by reports suggesting OpenAI had fallen short of internal revenue projections.
In premarket activity on April 30, AVGO shares advanced 1.4%.
Mizuho maintains an Outperform assessment on AVGO with a $480 valuation target. Among 42 equity analysts monitoring the stock, 35 assign it a Strong Buy recommendation. The consensus price objective stands at $469.94, with the highest projection reaching $630.
