Exchange-traded funds tracking Bitcoin in the United States experienced substantial redemptions totaling $450.4 million on Tuesday, marking a dramatic reversal from positive momentum. The withdrawal volume stands as the most severe single-day exodus since June 25, when investors pulled capital during a broader market decline.
Market data revealed that all 13 spot Bitcoin ETFs trading in the US faced headwinds as the digital asset’s value declined from above $77,000 to slip beneath $75,000. The rapid shift in capital flows demonstrated how quickly sentiment can change in cryptocurrency investment vehicles.
Leading Funds Experience Heaviest Redemptions
Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund recorded the most substantial capital departure, with investors withdrawing $214.8 million during the Tuesday session. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust saw $161.7 million leave the fund, together accounting for the majority of aggregate outflows.
Grayscale’s Bitcoin Trust ETF witnessed $44.1 million in redemptions. ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF reported $17.4 million departing, and Bitwise Bitcoin ETF documented another $12.4 million in investor exits.
Bitcoin price traded around $75,800 during the reporting period, reflecting a roughly 1.9% decline across the previous 24-hour window. The cryptocurrency peaked near $77,710 before encountering resistance and falling to approximately $74,945 at its session low.
Market pressure intensified following the Senate’s procedural outcome regarding the CLARITY Act. The digital asset breached the $75,000 level after the legislative development, though prices stabilized somewhat as the session progressed.
Legislative Framework Encounters Congressional Obstacle
The CLARITY Act aims to establish comprehensive federal guidelines for digital asset regulation across the United States. The legislation required 60 Senate votes to advance through the procedural hurdle, yet lawmakers rejected the cloture motion, placing the measure in limbo following extensive deliberations.
While the legislative development alone may have contributed to Tuesday’s outflows, the timing aligned with substantial ETF redemptions and downward price movement in Bitcoin markets.
Tuesday’s investment vehicle data revealed a dramatic contrast from Monday’s session, during which the same funds attracted $159.9 million in fresh capital. Bitcoin’s price trajectory weakened throughout US market hours as selling pressure mounted.
The redemption volume on Tuesday ranks among the summer’s most substantial withdrawal sessions. The June 25 episode remains the benchmark for recent outflows, when US spot Bitcoin ETFs hemorrhaged $691.7 million as the cryptocurrency hovered near $60,000. That particular June session followed another $469 million exodus the previous day amid widespread selling across risk assets.
