Broadcom (AVGO) shares advanced more than 4% Tuesday following a positive analyst revision and the announcement that four prominent financial institutions will provide $63 billion in funding for equipment supplied to Anthropic. The developments came after Anthropic submitted documentation for its planned entry into the US equity markets.
DA Davidson Lifts Rating on Broadcom Shares
Analyst Gil Luria at DA Davidson elevated Broadcom to Buy from Neutral while lifting his price target to $400 from $350. This new forecast represented approximately 22% upside from Monday’s close.
Luria pointed to Broadcom’s valuation of roughly 16 times projected 2027 earnings. He anticipates that Anthropic’s public offering will unlock capital for additional AI infrastructure investments. He also projects OpenAI will pursue public market funding in the coming year. The rating change arrives after recent downward movement in Broadcom shares despite strong forecasts for AI semiconductor revenue growth.
Anthropic Discloses Broadcom Equipment Commitments
Anthropic submitted its S-1 registration document to the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 26. The creator of Claude intends to trade on Nasdaq with the symbol ANT, though pricing and timing details remain unannounced.
The regulatory filing reveals five-year equipment lease arrangements with Broadcom totaling roughly $161.2 billion in rental obligations, not including interest charges. Anthropic makes quarterly payments, typically after equipment reaches operational status at external data facilities. Certain computing infrastructure went live in 2026, with additional deployments planned for 2027.
Financial Institutions Commit $63 Billion Package
Bank of America, Blackstone, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley disclosed financing for Broadcom processors and networking infrastructure bound for Anthropic. This arrangement arrives alongside other significant AI hardware funding initiatives, including recent capital commitments for Nvidia graphics chips.
A special-purpose entity will acquire and rent the equipment. Bank of America, Citi and Morgan Stanley will structure roughly $43.5 billion in senior debt. Blackstone will supply a junior tranche. Broadcom will assist in shielding lenders from potential declines in equipment residual values.
Technology Sector Pursues Additional AI Capital
Other major technology players are similarly pursuing financing for computational capacity expansion. Meta recently detailed proposals to secure up to $95 billion for AI initiatives, through a primary equity offering and a potential subsequent program. Broadcom, Nvidia and AMD have signaled potential participation in share purchases.
Broadcom anticipates shipments under its Anthropic computing contracts will commence in 2027. The company’s revenue projections hinge in part on client expenditure levels, manufacturing timelines and financing availability.
