Strategy Inc, MSTR
The company’s board approved an increase to its digital credit securities buyback authorization, raising the ceiling from $2 billion to $3 billion. As of October 18, Strategy maintained $1.16 billion in remaining capacity under this enhanced authorization. This program applies exclusively to preferred securities and operates independently from common stock repurchase initiatives.
Between October 12 and 18, Strategy completed repurchases of 1,938,780 STRC preferred shares valued at $193.1 million. The company did not acquire any STRF, STRK, STRD, or MSTR common shares during this period. Separately, Strategy preserved $1 billion in available capacity under its distinct MSTR common stock buyback initiative.
Cryptocurrency Acquisitions Push Total Bitcoin Holdings Beyond 848,000
Strategy acquired 267 bitcoin during the reporting week for a total cost of $22.1 million, inclusive of transaction fees. The acquisition price averaged $82,900 per bitcoin. Following this transaction, the company’s cryptocurrency portfolio expanded to 848,517 BTC as of October 18.
Strategy financed the bitcoin purchase primarily through its at-the-market equity offering program. The company sold 140,872 shares of MSTR common stock, generating approximately $22 million in net proceeds after sales commissions. An additional $100,000 from cash reserves covered the remaining acquisition costs.
Strategy has invested $64.02 billion in accumulating its current bitcoin position, accounting for all fees and transaction costs. The aggregate average purchase price across the entire portfolio stands at $75,446 per coin. The company has relied on common stock sales and various financing mechanisms to support its digital asset treasury approach.
Substantial Cash Position Backs Dividend Payments and Buyback Activity
Strategy reported $4.83 billion in its designated dollar reserve as of the period’s end. Additionally, the company held $447.3 million in separate cash allocated for corporate operations. Combined, these balances totaled approximately $5.28 billion, providing substantial support for the company’s broader capital management objectives.
The STRC share repurchases utilized general cash holdings rather than funds from the company’s dedicated dollar reserve. The reserve account provided $45.5 million for preferred stock dividend distributions during the week. Meanwhile, proceeds from fresh MSTR share issuances financed virtually all bitcoin acquisitions.
Strategy maintained $18.79 billion in remaining capacity under its MSTR stock issuance program. The company did not sell any preferred shares through this mechanism during October 12–18. These flexible financing arrangements provide Strategy with multiple pathways to manage securities obligations and fund future bitcoin acquisitions.
