Robinhood unveiled plans to deploy an AI-powered trading agent designed to conduct market analysis, develop trading strategies, and execute trades on behalf of customers. Robinhood announced this advancement during the HOOD Summit held in Houston. The agent will function within the Robinhood application and operate according to customer-defined parameters.
Autonomous Trading Technology Reaches Retail Investors Through Robinhood AI Agent
Users will establish a dedicated account for the AI agent and determine its level of autonomy. The platform requires manual approval for each transaction as a default safety measure, though customers can disable this requirement. Users can select from multiple AI models, including those developed by OpenAI. The GPT-Luna model will be available at no cost until the end of the year.
AI agents are also moving deeper into digital payments. Block recently integrated Bitcoin Lightning support into the x402 payment protocol. This framework enables software agents to process payments for online services without human intervention. The development demonstrates how financial platforms are exploring expanded roles for automated software actions.
Robinhood reports that over 150,000 customers currently operate automated trading accounts following the May release targeting experienced traders. These agents interact with Robinhood’s tools approximately 30 million times daily. The new Robinhood AI agent extends comparable capabilities to a broader customer base.
Loops Feature Enables Continuous Strategy Execution
The platform will introduce Loops, a capability that converts trading strategies into persistent instructions. An AI agent could evaluate markets at specific intervals or implement predetermined strategies during off-hours. Customers retain full authority over account limits and operational permissions.
Robinhood’s prediction-market business has been expanding. Recent financial data revealed event-contract revenue hit $156 million during the second quarter. This segment represents another component of Robinhood’s strategic initiative to provide comprehensive products for active traders within a unified platform.
Crypto Perpetual Futures Launch Targets U.S. Market
The company plans to introduce crypto perpetual futures contracts to qualified U.S. customers via Bitstamp. Bitcoin and Ether contracts will provide leverage options up to 10 times initial investment. Contracts for SOL, XRP, DOGE, ADA, LINK, and HYPE will feature leverage up to three times.
Robinhood Chain has also faced fresh scrutiny over memecoin activity. The rollout of these trading products coincides with the company’s expansion throughout crypto markets, tokenized assets, and automation technologies. Robinhood indicates perpetual futures will become available within the coming months, while Robinhood Agents will launch shortly. Both offerings will initially be restricted to eligible U.S. customers.
