Telos (TLS) stock experienced a slight decline of 0.74% despite revealing a significant federal contract acquisition. The Virginia-based cybersecurity company secured an $13.7 million agreement with the Department of Health and Human Services.
The agreement spans an 18-month period and focuses on upgrading the department’s cyber governance framework, including risk management and compliance infrastructure throughout the HHS organization.
The implementation will serve two critical HHS branches: the Office of the Chief Information Officer alongside the Office of Information Security, both receiving Telos’s complete Xacta platform suite.
Three distinct technological solutions comprise the agreement: Xacta 360, Xacta.io, and Xacta.ai platforms.
The contract extends beyond mere software deployment. Additional deliverables encompass comprehensive cybersecurity services, including system integration at the enterprise level, personnel training programs, and technical support for data migration operations.
Understanding the Xacta Platform Capabilities
The Xacta 360 solution manages authorization workflows for security operations while overseeing control assessments, maintaining compliance documentation, and enabling continuous monitoring capabilities.
Meanwhile, Xacta.io functions as a data aggregation platform, consolidating information from multiple security tools to provide HHS leadership with comprehensive visibility into organizational cyber risk profiles and security positioning.
The Xacta.ai component introduces artificial intelligence capabilities to the ecosystem. This technology aims to reduce manual intervention requirements while accelerating compliance-related processes.
John B. Wood, who serves as chairman and CEO of Telos, addressed the contract award. He emphasized that implementing the complete Xacta suite throughout HHS demonstrates the platform’s capabilities for managing security requirements within large, multifaceted federal organizations.
Federal Security Clearance and Corporate Overview
The Xacta platform has achieved FedRAMP Class D (High) authorization, representing the most stringent security classification available within the federal certification program.
This designation enables government agencies to deploy these software-as-a-service solutions within operational environments processing sensitive unclassified data. Such certification is essential for securing government agreements at this magnitude.
Telos identifies itself as a specialized provider delivering cyber, cloud, and enterprise security capabilities. The company serves a diverse client portfolio including federal agencies, highly regulated commercial sectors, and multinational corporations.
This HHS contract expands Telos’s existing portfolio of government engagements. The organization has developed its business model around supporting agencies requiring elevated security certifications for their technology infrastructure.
Specific implementation dates for the Xacta deployment at HHS were not disclosed. However, the 18-month performance period commenced immediately following the contract award.
