Airbnb (ABNB) has joined forces with Instacart (CART) to bring comprehensive grocery delivery capabilities to renters nationwide, enabling travelers to arrange food and household item deliveries through the vacation booking platform ahead of their arrival.
The integrated service enables travelers to schedule deliveries up to 21 days prior to their check-in date. Purchases meeting the $10 minimum threshold receive complimentary shipping. Users don’t need to create an Instacart profile or download additional applications, as the rental property location automatically appears in the ordering interface.
According to the company, grocery accessibility has consistently appeared at the top of guest wish lists. The nationwide expansion now serves the overwhelming majority of qualified American reservations.
The northern expansion is scheduled next, with Canadian availability anticipated within several weeks. Instacart maintains substantial market penetration throughout Canada, with particularly strong usage during seasonal celebrations.
Two Florida and Arizona marketsāOrlando and Phoenixāfeature an enhanced version of the collaboration. Property owners in these cities can choose to accept guest grocery shipments and prepare refrigerators and storage areas in advance of traveler arrival.
“Our goal was integrating groceries seamlessly into the travel experience rather than adding another task to complete,” explained Juan David Borrero, who oversees global partnerships and business development at Airbnb.
Instacart’s Chief Commercial Officer Ryan Hamburger noted the collaboration “generates additional business for our retail network while providing unprecedented convenience for travelers securing provisions at their destinations.”
